A Short Update

Greetings and Salutations!
Off on -another- adventure, this time up to the Villages to visit Gretchen’s ‘rents. During the drive up, I got a call from MomUnit who’s requested me to head to Charleston ASAP as she’s decided to sell her house, and wants me to come by and grab up whatever ‘stuff’ I want as she’s literally cleaning house.

Not much I want nor need, but I really do want to see her, especially since the new job is beginning shortly, and vacation time will be at a premium. So I have some interviews and appointments on Monday and Tuesday, so the soonest I can bounce is Wednesday.

May you live in interesting times right?

So tonight we’re staying at a Best Western down the street from her ‘rents place. The logistics of staying there are kind of intolerable, mostly that BOTH her ‘rents STILL smoke… the stench is kind of horrific as mentioned. They keep it (for the most part) out on the porch, however, the house positively reeks. Now speaking as an almost 30 year smoker (quit now about 5+ years) I really hate the smell, and I do NOT want the Doonie exposed.

Speaking of which:
Gratuitous Baby with Doggo pic:

Chili really seems fond of the Doonie, and gives him these gentle little puppy licks, which cracks his all the hell up. He’s doing very well and for a 7 month old, he’s now learned ‘Mama’ and ‘Dada’ respectively. He seems to genuinely understand the concept, so it’s pretty wild…

His growth spurt seems to have subsided for now as well. He’s now this big:

As you can see, he’s kind of overflowing the little chair that Gretchen’s BFF got him. It’s meant to be good until he’s either 40 pounds or three years old, but as you can see, he’s almost maxxed it size wise.

Which is why in almost every picture you see of him, he’s only in a nappie, as he outgrew damned near everything we got him, including onesies… we have some larger outfits, but unless we’re heading out to somewhere ‘oot and aboot’ a plain old diaper is fine, especially just around the house.

I mean case in point, his lil pool outfit? This one

First off, the top? Thats a 3T top. The swimsuit? That’s a 2T, and as you can also see, the car seat/car bassinet he’s in? It’s like stuffing a sausage to get him in it.

He’s supposed to be using that seat until he’s 18-24 months.
He is, as of today, 7 months and 17 days old.
And they do not make a larger size.
One size fits all.

Bullshit.

The straps on it are almost maxxed out, and well, we’ll have to figure out the next car seat when the time comes, ‘cos this one I figure at his current growth rate, he’ll be too big for it by Christmas.

At his current growth rate, I’m looking to buy ANOTHER deep freezer for the garage. I have one upright deep freeze, plus an additional ‘beer fridge/freezer’… that was the original fridge X#1 and I got when we first got married… nothing wrong with it but the color, so it became the garage-beer fridge. So yeah, get a BIG deep freeze and prep to buy a fucking cow for it,

as the Doonie has already shown a love of BBQ ribs and his appetite as he grows is a thing of nervous-making.

So yeah… MAD appointments early in the week, Charleston midweek, and HOPEFULLY not a damned thing by the weekend.

One can hope.

On other news, not really sure of the International Scene except it’s the same-old-same-old with Iran, Chyna, Russia and the Izzies and of course The Krain and the Koked-up Krainfeld and his Kohort of Kurruptocrat Klowns doing the usual, AKA being coked up corrupt scum.

I personally am getting a bit miffed at Lima Six right now. As you may remember, I sold off a sizeable amount of my silver and gold stash at the top of the Market, and invested said fiatbux into ‘functional metal’ AKA a belt-fed upper.

Now, mind you this was ALL “pre-Doonie”

And considering the rarity of them, I can probably turn a neat profit if I decide to part with it… I at least know in an emergency, IF I needed $$$ in a rush, that someone will take it off my hands in a New York Second, hence why I called it “investing in ‘functional metals'”

It was promised to be here no later than 16 weeks from date of order. I ordered it on March 18th. That’s a few days OVER 18 weeks ago dammit.

I have a couple dozen reasons I’m itchy to get my hot lil paws on it. One BIG reason however is that I feel like it might be needed in the very near future… as in having a weapon capable of massive area suppression is a wonderful thing. Nothing like being able to ‘bring the hate’ in a ‘Bad Moon Rising’ or keeping a ‘Crowd of Rabid Urban Yoofs Running Amok’ at bay.

Also I can’t wait to poast about it.

I even went as far as to break out a bunch of the ‘good warshot ammunition’ from the deep storage stocks to belt up a BUNCH of both 4-in-1 Ball/Tracer, as well as some 5-in-1 when the tracers started running low. Links I have plenty of… call it had a huge stockpile of as I collected them over the years, as well as like 3? or 4? 100 round ‘nutsack’ ammunition bags that I brought back from Iraq for a ‘rainy day’ sort of thing.

I mean I have 2 x 150 round belts for a M-60 or M-240 that I made out of saved links and .308 rounds. One never knows when or if one is going to stumble across a belt fed weapon in need of feeding. So keeping them fed and safe is very important.

SO, that’s the current sit-rep here.
Hope all is well with you all.

  1. LOL! Lil’ guy is growing like a weed under proper care.
I was Pappy’s favorite at that age, look just like him and same demeanor.
That is a nice heater, cold steel for a new Iron Age.

  2. Our grandson is 5 & 1/2. We babysit him a couple days a week. Family first.

Me thinking about ammo prices pre-2000 when I bought 1600 rounds of surplus U.S. mil-spec M193 (Guatemalan) for 13.5 cents/round, delivered.

    1. yeah. I running a bit low on the 7.62 ball I bought back in the mid 1990’s at 12 cents per round.
yeah, I picked up close to 10 k of it after getting a couple of old Mausers in 308 for 250 a pop.
I think I got a bunch of Radway green for about 18-19 cents per back then as well.
if I had any idea prices would go as high as they have, I would have bought it by the skid load !
trade 4 boxes of Winchester 308 , 150 grain soft point hunting ammo for a cord of white oak split and dried last year. and the “boys” where happy to make the trade as it going for 35 bucks and up these days
I bought it at 8.95 per box back when I still hunted.

      1. Yeah, those 55 gallon drums of 5.56 and 7.62 that Brownells had a while back are looking like a good investment now.

  3. Half an angus (grain finished) is running me about $2200-2400 for ~200 lbs in the freezer. Fills most of an upright. Pricey for sure, you can get a half for cheaper, but… try one of my burgers. Best damned beef I’ve ever had.

    1. Not a bad price at today’s market. We have 10 doing to butcher next month, already sold them at $4,500, without processing

      1. I ride my bicycle past several angus farms on my daily route (Florida panhandle countryside), and I keep warning them to make a break for it before harvest day, but they never listen, and just go back to eating the grass…

  4. He’s doing the “cute’n’adorable thing very well. They’re absolutely chick magnets at that age, as my BIL (then still single) found out when we all attended one of our local beaches. He’s big enough and you folks are young-enough looking that a lot of people are just gonna figure he’s yours as a “little bit late in life” baby.
Congratulations on the verbal as well. Shows great work and care. Glad Chili likes him, too. Kids and dogs…

  5. It’s great that things are going well for you BCE with G and baby BCE.
Hopefully Lima Six gets you your belt fed upper. I know money is tight but man DON’T sell that because I have a bad feeling you may need it before long. If you must part with other pieces of your collection but the way shit is going, I have a BAD feeling right now.

Many people (including me) feel like right now is similar to the Summer of 1914. The beginning of August people were reading “oh, there is trouble in the Balkans, whatever”. One month later the World was in the first World War and the casualties were beyond horrible. The British Expeditionary Force was one of the most experienced armies in Europe and took the field with about 50,000 men.
At one battle (The 1st Battle of the Marne) they lost 13,000 men in a few days !!
The leaders in a few months realized that the war was unwinnable yet didn’t have the guts to work towards peace so it went on for 4 long years and basically destroyed Europe — their power, money, influence was NEVER the same after that.

I see the same shit going on now, the US Empire and hegemony is collapsing. We’ve pissed away trillions on weapons and tactics that are obsolete and didn’t invest in missile and drone technology like we have.
The US since WWII has maintained air superiority and that has changed. If the Marines tried to take Kharg Island in the Gulf today, they’d be fucked !! They’d be under constant drone and missile attack and it would be almost impossible to resupply, reinforce them or evac out the wounded.
It’d be another Gallipoli from WWI. Warfare has had a paradigm shift and the moron retired generals on tv and the idiots advising Trump don’t get it.
The World is running low on oil because there is a 20 million barrel a day deficit because the Persian Gulf is shut down. This will start effecting ALL of us and ALL of the World soon.

The World RUNS on petroleum and an Energy War will quickly become a shooting War !

    1. are you seeing the pattern there????

it’s all orchestrated to kill off as many christian goy as possible while re-arranging the power structure.

the murka and it’s christian goy are going to get it’s destruction also…

and yes, it’s those pesky (((iranians))) behind everything-as usual

  6. Yes you are absolutely going to need that extra freezer the way that boy is growing. Glad to hear the job situation is sorting itself out. With the cost of everything today no one still in their working years can afford to be unemployed for long. Even in retirement with cutting out unnecessary expenses we still find the budget to be tight. So I’m reducing my collection of pew-pews. I’m on Armslist under username RetCheng if anyone wants to take a look.

  7. Yeah, I’d be getting antsy about that, too. I’ve ordered custom built things before, and the waiting is the worst part. But, when it goes over? That’s a new level of antsy.

As for the boy, my kids discovered Facebook Marketplace for baby clothes for the grandbabies. They’ll buy a bag of baby clothes for very little money, and sometimes even get brand new, as in tags are still on it, things. It’s a useful tool to keep up with the growing kids.

  8. Best day I ever had was selling my house in Charleston, the carpetbaggers have taken over the place.

  9. Why did I hear the opening chords to CCR “Fortunate Son” when I saw red that post?
I’m gonna have to make a meme for you with a melanin enhanced chubby boi in that bouncer and just label it “NetFlix Version”… You know how much the Big nose/ Smol hat tribe love to replace gingers with ‘hard Rs’.

To all the rest of you degenerates in here, hug yer kids. You never know when they could be taken without warning, had an out of the blue last week with my oldest where we barely got him to the ER before he crashed. No warning. Just a belly full of blood he puked up with no pain beforehand. 3 bags of whole and 3 bags of ringers on arrival. He’s fine, though it was a close run thing. So… just hug yer kids.

    1. Ascites, rupture of blood vessels at base of esophagas. 1 out of 3 die waiting on ambulance. Look for liver issues.

      Spin

    2. The kid has a head as hard as boiled woodpecker lips… one of the tougher kids I’ve met… he takes after Dad, and having met your wife? SHe’s even meaner and tougher than you bro. I’m SO glad he’s doing well… got a hunch he’ll be around for a LONG time!
