Greetings and Salutations!
Yet again it’s a full deck going on around here.
However, I’m working on getting better.
The job hunt has so far given me 3 interviews already, and a fourth one ‘on deck’ on Thursday.
OK: SO it’s now Thursday and the interview went well.
This’s been a brutal few weeks around here let me tell you… The Dooney has been on his six-month-growth spurt and let me tell you, a piranha doesn’t even start to compare eating wise.
Like 3-4 pouches of yogurt/veggies a day, plus 5-7 (depending on how hungry he is) bottles of formula, and add on he’s miserable cutting toofuses and running a low grade fever on the regular due to the growing pains.
This essentially means that since my last blog a few ago, I get maybe three hours of sleep at night. I feel like this’s combat operations ALL over again, except I can’t say ‘fuck it’ and walk away… Besides, he’s just too damned cute:

So hence my extended absence(s)
Right now both he and Gretchen are on a nap as I had to have quiet time whilst I did my interview. This one was of the South Pole gig and that particular gig doesn’t start until January as they flipped it from August. I was looking at working the “Summer Season”, August to late February, but now, as they say, ‘needs/must’ and I’m looking at January to November, which is ‘wintering over’.
Seems the hiring manager reviewed my resume closely and realized I might have what it takes to deal with the insane wintering over they have down there. The next step will be to do a group interview/psyche test so to speak to see if I’ll fit in.
I shouldn’t have any issues. All of my experiences gave me a real edge, in that I have a bunch of needed training that sort of helps… the BIG one being my more-than-passing familiarity with AIrcraft Cargo operations. I did a shit-ton of that when I was in Baghdad on my last tour there. The supervisor was highly pleased to find out I knew what a 436L pallet was, and how to load it.
For the uninitiated:

I used to have to ship equipment all over the AOR on those.
Another plus is my experience with 4k and 10k forklifts.
Being a jack of all/master of none (outside of firearms) definitely is a plus for this gig.
So I got some time to lock in and do some other stuff and because of that, I’ve been interviewing with a bunch of other companies. I’m pleased that I’ve actually been getting quite a few of them, as I’ve heard that a BUNCH of people out there don’t hear shit from anyone, despite sending hundreds of applications out.
4 Interviews so far, and ALL have been great.
The trick is figuring out what I want to do…
THAT’S going to be the bitch of it methinks.
So either way, I did get caught up on the news a bit lately. The Montreal Shooting, which appears to suffered the Memory Hole Effect, cracked me the fuck up in all sorts of ways…

Got to admit
THAT particular headline was not on Ye Olde Bingo Card let me tell you…
On other things
All the mental/emotional damaged Leftists who seem to be unable to help themselves in damaging the reflection pond?
I have a solution
Just shoot them.
End of fucking story.
I mean this weak-sauce punk assed bunch of cowards are attacking not OrangeRetardBad, but attacking our fucking monuments.
I say enough with the mollycoddling of these fucking go-nowhere losers. Fucking make gruesome examples of them. As Stalin used to say, “Give ’em the noodle” which translates to a smol-caliber bullet to the back of the head. I mean these demented retards are out of control, have no fear, and it’s pretty obvious they’re utterly delusional, which in my ‘umble opinion means they should be kil’t and used as organ/skin donors for people who have the need…
Lord knows they serve no other purpose.
I mean they scream and yell about how they’re facing a ‘Holocaust’ and a “Fascist DotGov”… at this point, if I were ORB? I, as I’ve stated before, would completely and utterly embrace my MoustacheManBad side and go full fucking covenant on these despoilers.
I mean FFS, the left has been saying all of this shit forever and a day right? Why not give them a real taste of just what that means?
Fear… raw naked fear of ABSOLUTE MIGHT AND VENGEFUL PUNISHMENT is the ONLY thing at this point that could possibly salvage “The American Experiment”
I mean they’ll never leave us alone
They’ve stated that openly
They’ve even fantasized openly about ‘getting revenge’ on everyone who’s ever had the audacity to either voat the opposite of them (i.e. for any and all on the Right, RINO or not) or has the temerity to ask that we just be left the fuck alone, and not be bothered by the Blue and Purple Haired Childless Haranguing Harridans and their ilk. I mean personally, the 69th Intersectional Didlo Brigade has almost worn me the fuck out.
Hell… part of the reason I’m having ‘issues’ witht he idea of going back into Contracting is that that means leaving Gretchen and Dooney here stateside. IF something untoward in the States were to happen… well being stuck LITERALLY at the South Pole?
I mean Iraq and Kuwait?
In a real world “Oh Holy SHIT things have gone pear shaped!!!” situation, there was always about a 30-40% chance of exfil’ing back to CONUS. Antarctica is a whooooole different ball o’wax so to speak. Something goes world-wide pear shaped, and it’d be me and possibly sumdood having a “The Thing” ending moment:
OK
Back again after ANOTHER ‘dealing w/the Dooney’ situation.
Like
Damn… 3 days later… I gotta wrap this.
I DO have a poast in progress, but it seems EVERY SINGLE TIME I start typing, His Royal Highness calls and I’m off to deal witht he poopy diapers, raging hunger, or just needs to be held ‘cos God Bless him, the Dooney has NOT been having a fun time with this current growth spurt…
So More Later
Big Country

Nice to have you back! My youngest brought me beer last weekend, and I didn’t have to spoon feed him.
What JW said.
This too shall pass.
Who knows what version of good man the Dooney will be?
Just remember that he will be someone – because of what you and G are doing right now.
Keep bashing on.
BC, I know it’s already part of your considerations, but taking off to Antarctica for work strikes me as a particularly fraught decision (should it pan out) at this time I known you need a solid paying gig, what with a new mouth to feed and clothe, but damn son, you couldn’t get any further away from home with exceedingly poor odds of getting back post haste for an emergency, if you tried.
If I were in your situation (all other qualifiers being identical) I don’t think I could take that gig. But then I guess what you decide to do depends heavily on whether or not you get another of the jobs you interviewed for, assuming any of those are as economically lucrative as the Antarctic gig.
Plus, you’d end up missing damn a year of his growth and development, and he’d be missing a year of your carde and influence, neither of which strike me as a good thing. It’s a shitty decision to have to make, especially if only on account of your dire need for a regular income again.
I gotta go back to the discussion about turning the Lee Enfield hobby into a home cottage business. You can take care of the domestic duties and have an income stream at the same time. Sell off some of the excess stock and do all custom work cash in advance. Getting stuck in Antarctica by a SHTF event is only one degree better than being stuck in orbit. Anywhere in the ME is a bigger risk than it has been at any point since 2001. The big toys are all in play and the gloves are off for all the big players with everything on the betting table. The US Military has proven itself ineffective and unable to deliver any positive results. If they keep trying to tee up more do overs looking for a different outcome, they are eventually going to suffer a costly setback that cannot be hidden from the public. We also have only a few weeks remaining in the fuel reserves of the experts are to be believed. If they are correct, we will be out of aviation fuel and diesel before August. Seems like a good time to be at home.
Glad to hear your alive.
Yeah, truly. When a week had gone by I stared to fear the worst. Glad to hear that it was nothing more than standard child and job stuff.
yeah… i was never much for “jobs” oh i’ve done everything under the sun, but honestly, jobs are meant to keep you broke and pay taxes.
nahhhhh- no thanks. i went the self employed route and got rich in 10 years then quit while the getting was good. unlike everyone else i knew who had their own gig going. they stayed working and most of them eventually slipped under the waves… and back to a “job”
i haven’t wirqed for pay since 2005 and don’t regret a damn thing.
it’s nice to be the King.
Great to see an update!
A year in the antarctic? must be some serious money.
Fingers crossed for your positive outcome.
Not to be a Debbie Downer but the Antarctic thing is a bad idea. Ask your cancer surgeon friend. The bodily stress is significant. I had/have a patient whom did a stint there. I am a family doc of 37 years experience. I have read your blog for low many years now and know your medical history as much as you have revealed over time. You have a young un to raise and friends whom need you. You don’t need to go die in Antarctica to prove anything to us or yourself. Money is not worth your life or health.
Just my two cents. You are a good man. Prayers for wisdom in your decisions.
What i said b4 and others have said tonight. Are you out of your ever living mind? The G has a drama cloud that follows her. The minute you are wheels up it is going to go EF5. There are 2 daughters and a son that need help raising. Some thing will go your way, the Big Guy in the Sky just hasn’t revealed it to you.
I pray for wisdom in your decision.
Spin
Had an NCO who did a support gig in Antarctica. I don’t think he “wintered over” (The Army has a special ribbon for that). He had lots of good stories and a pet penguin, which almost got him killed when a killer whale surfaced and saw his penguin sticking out of the neck of his parka while he was helping to build the “ice dock”. There are lots of videos on YT by people who worked down there. It’s a tough call, though, pretty austere in the off-season. Good luck with your decision making process.
Sweet Jeebus man. Think about what will happen to your tan! Tan lines matter!
That’s it, that’s all I’ve got for advice. I read all the previous comments and I think all the respondents have one thing in common: We all care about you, even if we’ve never met in the meatosphere. Everyone’s gotta do something, so do what you’ve got to do. Glad you’re well.
Godspeed and good luck.
Yeah, my two cents. This shytshow has been teetering on the edge for a while now. As the midterms get closer the crazy is going to get more intense. Between July and November is most likely going to get interesting. If you didn’t have Doonie then the Antarctica gig would be a great experience. But ages 1-3 is when a child’s mind, personality and basic value system is established. He needs you. Not just as a provider but as a Father. God’s most important gift to a man is Fatherhood. Wimmin bring the babe into the world but it is the Father who shapes them the most in their formative years. You have shown that you have grown as a man and have stepped up into that role. Embrace it. Stay home with him. God will provide you with employment or something. You could also be doing gunsmithing, repairing and tuning people’s toys. The builds are fun and all but there is a need for good gunsmiths around here. I myself have a revolver that needs some work and if you were to start doing that I will be one of your first customers. End rant.
^^^ THIS. Expands nicely on what I alluded to upthread. You chose to take on a parenting role again, ergo this isn’t the time to disappear for nearly a year, even for a financially lucrative gig. I really hope you can get something within the FUSA, or that you can take G and Da’ Doonie with you for the duration, if out of the country. Of course, that may not be possible either, with her parent’s situation, and other practical considerations.
Glad to hear the interviews are going well, hopefully, you’ll have a choice of job options. As for the situation in Montreal, my 2 Cdn cents(1.5 US) is a green flag/false flag to push banning the last decent gun Canucks have, the SKS.
When they first rolled out the order in council(sorta like executive order in US) to ban many models(off another similar psyop, a mass shooting in Nova Scotia in May 2020, worth looking into FWIW and prob didn’t get much press down there…guy had lotsa cop gear and supposed 400K from a secret, well not anymore area they use for informant payoff drops) they tried, but failed to get the SKS banned due to pushback from feather indians over using it for hunting.
Said fella in this event drove from Alberta to Mtl, like driving from West Montana to upstate NY, is against pron and degeneracy , but is a marxist incel. Seems like they just threw everything in a blender and put it down in his “manifesto” cause those two ideas dont gel well, most marxists are big on degeneracy, esp to being down the capitalist west.
Dude used an SKS and something prob not aware of down there, but Quebec, esp Montreal, is ground zero for gun grabbing in Canada, as back in the late 80s there was a major mass shooting of female engineering students at Ecole Polytechnique, and then in early 90s a similar smaller one at Concordia University. So while ppl on the right are going “based…pronhub was the target” IMO it was more that it happened in Mtl (which is also our Chewist city, by far), so you got that added into the mix as well, so I think they’re hoping it’ll be the final push that knocks over the coke machine that is getting either rid of the SKS or making it that Chief Wig Wam can have em with special papers or something, and huite guys can pound sand. Anyway, just some lore and context beyond the usual right side lols over the lady cop and the internet pron, that go with the story.
This is a long post so I hope you will accept it. My phone number somehow got on the Act Blue donor list. I figure it was some asshole buddy messing with me. Anyway here is the latest money beg from these shit stains. When you get to the name at the end , there is someone who needs a cranial tune-up.
“Next Saturday is the 250th birthday of the United States, and Donald Trump is planning to turn the Semiquincentennial into a taxpayer-funded vanity project- a cheap authoritarian infomercial designed to stroke his ego.
We are planning to ruin this event for him, just as we ruined his birthday celebration.
In the lead-up to his Saturday rally, our rapid-response teams will blanket Washington, D.C., with a wave of posters and industrial sidewalk decals exposing UNCLE SCAM.
To get these files to the printers, produce the heavy-duty decals, and mobilize our ground crews in time, we have to hit a hard operational target of $25,000 by the end of this week.
The window to execute this deployment is closing rapidly. Will you check out our posters through the link below and chip in tonight to help us hit this goal and launch the Uncle Scam campaign?

Something to think about BC is
#1- Polar Gear. I guestimate to be $4000 (probably conservative cost) and maybe more due to customizing for your size. The price will make your nose bleed.
#2 – Dental work need to be complete before you go. That includes removal of any wisdom teeth.
#3 – Shots up to date.
#4 – 6 months of meds
Ran into a chick in New Zealand who was down there in a environmental clean up role. That is, chem restorage and haz waste removal when the ship came in. Strange chick. Probably why she was there. Bubble was left of center so to speak. People with health/mental issues are a risk. YMMV
Thing about this train wreck we are about to witness, is, there isn’t a safe place to stand.
Take care.
Train em up and leave em with heaters if you have to leave.
Shekels are must have with gas, food, lodging.
I have a Henry 45 long colt with a split barrel needs re don if you are of a mind. I would try to stay Conus if at all possible. But you have to do what you need too.
Hopefully something will come in for you.
I think your influence with Dooney is important. There is a reason the Bible says that the sins of the father will follow for 7 generations. It’s because any demons attached to parents are allowed to tempt their children. And DC had plenty of them I’m sure. As to taking on some gunsmithing work, not a bad idea as several here including myself have work for you. I acquired a 1940 H&R shotgun that needs refinishing. You could ship thru your local gun store until you can secure your own FFL. Whatever you decide you’ve got support here.
Okay, I’m throwing my 2 cents in……why have you not tried to be a dispatcher for your local police/sheriff/highway patrol?? They make very decent money, you have regular shifts, with OT and Holiday pay. In addition, if someone calls out; “Some Body” has to work a double shift, which means $$$$$$$. If your shift starts on Sunday, you could be into double time by Tuesday. The benefits are great…….AND if all goes well you will be home most of the time in a regular set up. Your Doonie is safe, your dogs are safe, your guns are safe. And if Gretchen goes haywire again, you ARE THERE to direct traffic. Plus…you would be one of “the guys” with all the special privileges therein. I see this as a win-win.
I have 463L experience as well. My Navy ordnance unit on Okinawa used to ship sonobuoys all over the area, and I used to net the Air Force pallet up, and do the HAZDEC shipping paperwork for the buoys as well (each of them have a 7 oz CO2 bottle in them to operate the inflation mechanisms).
Those 463L pallet nets are tricky, one side is longer than the other, and if you get the sides caddy wampus, you’re gonna have a long day…
“I was looking at working the “Summer Season”, August to late February, but now, as they say, ‘needs/must’ and I’m looking at January to November, which is ‘wintering over’.”
I realize that was in quotes but it isn’t winter down there in January. Either way it would be colder than shit!
Gal that is a friends daughter grew up in Phx, married an AF husband and spent some time in Fla…then they moved to them to Minot, ND. Talk about a rude awakening!
Staying stateside when the commies decide to crash the system would be beneficial IMHO. Antarctica is like being sent to prison except you have *slightly* more freedom (to shiver).
Gun guys always think that there’s big $$$ to be made for gunsmithing because we pay for work that we don’t have the skill or tools to do. It won’t pay for the AC unless you are firmly established already. Restoration is cool, and you certainly have a knack for it but a few jobs here and there won’t even pay the bills. It HAS to remain a side gig.
Get anything that provides steady income, even if it’s 2 mediocre jobs.
The little guy needs a male to bond with. This time in his life is so important and someone did mention G having yet another drama nukefest. Better to be around to talk her off the ledge than to hear about it by phone or mail.
BTW, the Phx to FL to ND move was in December!
My friend sent a picture of the bank’s temperature sign out front. It 0° for the high in the middle of the afternoon.
i’ll put this out there for anyone who thinks critically…

Along the lines of the suggestion of being a dispatcher at your local po po…
I have a couple clients whom do logistics for trucking companies. One is a big company you would recognize. The other does hot shot independent truckers load boards. Both work from home. There is a whole logistics science of arranging loads to pick up and then return hauls to cover not coming home with an empty truck. Your brain is wired for this. Not sure how you get such a gig but someone on here may know something?
and so ‘it’ begins….

once murka runs out of abundant fuel and shortages of EVERYTHING happen, it would be a very good opportunity for this countries enemies to start their offensive operations against it.
just saying….
