MY 3-D printer has been down quite a spell and since I’m like “SQUIRREL!” with alllll sorts of new projects, THAT one in particular got back burnered. Consider a Stinger Missile, the FIM-92 costs now about $20o,000.00 per shot. I figure that the kid’s homebrewed MANPAD could have it’s game ‘upped’ with enough Autism and time, that I could believe that short range anti-aircraft missiles will be readily available over-the-counter or at least home-made within 2 years.

I mean a proximity fuze and a black powder charge with say a 1/8th or 1/4 pound of 00 buckshot could for-real ruin a flyboy’s day for sure.

So much for the game theory of “You can’t fight the DotGov! They have F-15/16/18s!!!”

  5. warhead design is not all that hard really. and there are lots of details on how it was done years ago.
    rocket fuel is easy to make as well. at least solid fuel is. the real problem is guiding it.
    and this kid seem to figured that part out. it’s no wonder the clowns in power are freaking out.
    if he can, so can others. as they say, the cat is out of the bag on this.
    this is going to become a huge problem for the clowns in power.

  6. You still don’t have enough space even with SWWNBN gone? Or did you already allocate that extra space? Well if you do take on this project, start with an anti armor missile. Weight saved on propellant that can be used in the warhead.

  7. Making the body of a MANPAD missile is no big deal. The truly hard part is making the propellant, getting the High exposives, creating the penetrator or warhead and getting everything to function correctly, in the correct order at the proper time. NOT a simple or easy task. So these really don’t worry me. But to the gun grabbing left they are, of course, an excuse to ring their hands, shout to high heavens and kick the banning and grabbing into a higher gear.

    The first casualties they admitted to were reservists working in a warehouse in Kuwait.
    Today they admitted 300 casualties, the vast majority with traumatic brain injuries.

    The problem is they do NOT want to let it get out that they sent the air defenses protecting US bases in the Gulf to fucking little hat land. Thus our troops were defenseless and got the shit kicked out of them by Iranian missiles and drones.
    I would not be surprised if the casualties are REALLY in the thousands.
    Wait until any ground troops hit the ground in Iran with no effective air cover.

    Watch Trumps cabinet meeting this week, it fucking terrified me. Every asshole there was a YES man saying blatant lies that “everything is great” and dementia afflicted Trump believes their bullshit.
    Friends we are in DEEP shit and it’s gonna get A LOT deeper as the oil and gas shortages start at the end of next month.

    1. The other issue, and one that hasn’t been addressed after witnessing the use in Ukraine and in the last Izzy war: interceptor production and munition production generally. We know how many we have bought – how many we pissed away in Ukraine – the Biden Huthie debacle -how many we have just used. = We’re screwed. It is very likely that the Iranians are waiting for what they judge to be a critical point to start shooting off their newer stuff.

      What is worse is that the way this thing cucked/kicked off makes us look duplicitous and, quite frankly, I would be shocked if the Iranians waste a second on meaningless negotiations. Why would they? Iran + Huthie allies basically have the major percentage of global trade, the large majority of energy production – and by extension food and munitions production by the short hairs.

      Allegedly, the white house pulled the MIC heads in a couple of weeks ago and told them to get their shit together vis a vi production. Unfortunately, boomers and the Grahms of the world still think we have the super power dominance we had in 1995 and the same production ability we had in in 1945 – both are delusional and both have been pissed away by the same people clamoring for this war and the war with Russia. At this point I wouldn’t be shocked if they took the Battleships back from the museums to re-fit because that is the kind of tool you need to have any shot at being successful in the madness they are talking about.

    If memory serves accurately, the designer is in fact some kind of Eurocaptive, so the design and budget fit some very likely actual requirement.

    1. A miniaturized, 3D printed MANPAD is probably the medicine for drones.

      You are not 3D printing something that can hit a maneuvering fighter ( the loads would be waaaay to high) but for much lower and slower drone, absolutely.

    Two things are true here; we’re being lied to, and they don’t know what they are doing. I read a report today where the Iranians took out a few E-3s. We had 17. Now 14. None in the pipeline. No doubt the Russians are helping targeting.

    I also read a pice on 5d chess where the point of all this is to get all oil back on petrodollars. Honestly, I don’t think they are that smart. And if our guys are thinking that, surely the Russians and Chinese are too.

    The one lesson here is that the enemy gets a say also. They know we’re burning up weapons that can’t be replaced at the rate we’d need.

    Hell, Trump is threatening their energy infrastructure. Fine and dandy. What’ll we do when they hit the Saudis and the rest of the gulf the same way.

      1. You make a lot of good points. I think Iran is holding off on hitting us here for now because they are doing so well in the theatre that they do not need to play that card. There was the recent sophisticated drone swarm events over parked B-52 bombers at Barksdale AFB a couple of weeks ago. Several days of it with the base going into lockdown and the reaction team unable to stop the intrusions with radio signal/GPS jammers. It proves they were hardened and the work of a state actor, probably China if I had to guess. The lack of shooting the drones down kinetically for 4 or 5 days in a row does not instill confidence in the USAF. We will see that for real at some point.
        There was an oil refinery fire in Houston that is supposed to be the destination for all the Venezuelan crude we now have access to. There were media reports of multiple witnesses insisting a drone flew in and hit the refinery. Whole thing is on the back pages now.

    2. We should have turned most of Iran into a glassed parking lot on day 5 of this bullshit war.

  13. A friend of mine way back in the early 70’s, using an Estes rocket kit, replacing the chute with an empty CO2 cartridge fitted with a 20 Gauge primer,filled with mixture of choice, fired by a nail on contact, made a crude bazooka and successfully reduced a large rock into a smaller one.
    Another kid successfully using a RC Stukka and a remotely lit M-80 hit a RC boat of a kid he did not like and that was in 69. I do not the particulars of that as I only know as hearsay, but this kind of stuff is not new, only kid stuff now made large. Guess it is time to get a printer.

In the case of the Kuwait fatalities in the beginning of the war, one of the KIA’s family members related that they had just gotten a text from him telling them not to worry. Cell phone in a war zone is a known no-go and everyone should know that by now.
    Armor obsolete? You better believe it. The video coming out of Lebanon of fiber optic FPV attack drone hits on little hat tanks is just like the same stuff we saw in Ukraine. Who could have seen that coming? they lost about 60 in 3 or 4 days with 10 or 12 in one ambush. The Izzies are slow learners, and Bibi is insisting on pressing the offensive until they control all of South Lebanon, which is not going to happen. The losses have the IDF close to cracking.

  17. Wife’s been on me since I cut up my left hand last summer about dialing back on my garden – 80 yards by 20 yards – because it got away from me. Well, my left hand was in a splint for 2 months and non useful for 3 or so after that. Nope. Gonna stay big. Might get bigger. In good years it’s fed two families and supplemented lots of neighbors and my staff.

    And the 4 legged protein that raids it is in for some surprises.

  21. How about a drone that can carry 5kg 20 klicks loiter at a set location and use lidar to home in on the target in a set and forget device. No comms to but video sent back for $2k. Had a team of bright eng students work this out as an Amazon small pkg delivery vector but draw your own conclusions.
