1. BCE, you are so right about the data centers and power and water.
   Around 20 years ago I worked for a MEGA bank and they built 2 HUGE data centers in the state of Delaware 30 miles apart with dark fiber between them.
   They had to build a new power plant to power them and they said they used more power than an oil refinery. Regarding water they were both near the Delaware River and a new waste treatment plant had to be built to clean all of the river water needed for cooling.
   It was a massive project and cost several billion dollars when all was said and done.

   The ONLY way they could power all of these new AI data centers is to either roll out thorium nuclear reactors OR roll out the cold fusion reactors (the technology which they have been sitting on for 40 years).

   Finally you HAD to push my big HUGE RED button which is the pajeets.

   I’ve been in IT for 35 years and I’ve had to work with H1Bs and Indians the whole damn time.
   They are awful and their main purpose is to keep IT salaries down. They are dumbasses and arragant as Hell. Every one of them THINK that they are the smartest guy in the room but really they are the dumbest. They LOVE LOVE LOVE procedures and checklists because they can basically waste a shitload of time and do nothing. God help you if you are on an IT Security review with them, it will be DAYS of BS going over minutae no one but them give a shit about.
   They are AWFUL to work with but again because of PC and HR you can never ever speak of these things except secretly on blogs like this.

We were investing in some silicon valley horseshit and got the idea that workforce housing (how long has that gambit been around) was another vein to tap. Partnered with a local shitbird developer and started buying old apartments and rehabbing into what approximated college dorms. Targeting the pajeets who were coming over in hordes. Rackem stackem. Leased by the room. They would go four in a room. The city had to modify their occupancy zoning. Unrelated, a couple of unpopular council members got re-elected.

      Then reality plays out. They commenced to destroy the properties. Didn’t matter that we raked bigger and bigger deposits. They were here to get theres and go back and buy a wife. The lucky ones could stay and buy one and have her shipped. They would sublease (unofficially and in violation of the lease) their own rooms to other shitters. A whole cottage industry of rotating shitters. When it went bad they would just walk into the night.

      The turn costs killed whatever premium we could chargem, which was substantial. The management burn was a cost that couldn’t be managed economically. Couldn’t have a woman there without security. Security costs. Then couldn’t hire a woman to even be there. Even the fags didn’t want the job.

      It was all economic cannibalism. Not sure how it all played out. Seems quaint these days since even here in nowhere its all here too. Shitbird developers. City council sell outs. Street shitters. And slumming of the commons.

      The economics need to break. It will hurt. But reality won’t be restored as long as the holy fiat fuckshow keeps on keepin on.

2. I keep getting advertisements in my feed for computer liquid cooling systems. The photos show the server boxes submerged in a big vat of some (hopefully non-conductive) liquid. This might allow a closed loop cooling system that does not use as much water or uses it for a secondary heat exchange, similar to what some nuke plants do. There is also a tech called “co-generation” where waste heat is used to generate electricity. Don’t know so much about that but it’s not new ands some guy I talked to once made a lot of money putting those systems in.

   1. Cogeneration and using waste heat is great and all. But you have to look at the return on investment. Basically at some point it’s not worth the extra cost to recover and increasingly tiny sliver of power.

      Kind of like growing corn to make ethanol for vehicle fuel.

5. Geothermal cooling is a possibility too. drill a couple thousand feet down, install a U-tube and chill water to 60ish degrees. Sounds expensive, though, compared to just fucking with everyone around you and ruining their lives.

   1. Not sure how geothermal cooling could work? The deeper you go, the hotter things gets because you’re getting closer to the mantle. Back in the 1980’s I worked in a copper/gold mine that was 1.2km underground, and nearly 50 degrees Celcius all the time. Helped me get inspired enough to do something else with my life.

   2. Yup closed system geothermal. The water doesn’t get destroyed but can be temperature leveled to create electricity then process heating for industry then reject to ground loops. Same water flowing through the system, or spilt and segregated. Free the engineers who are trying to eke one more mpg out of your truck and put them on this issue. This is progress. And AI sucks anyway.

In 1998 I designed, built and tested a hyper-intense density fish farming operation, raising tilapia in tanks using oxygen injection in the water (instead of just aeration) and growing hydroponic plants and assorted beds of bacteria to filter the water to recirculate it. I grew baby tilapia to 3lb harvest weight in 90 days and was able to keep 1lb of fish per gallon of water, about 10x higher density than normal. Used the tomatoes, basil and cilantro Inwas growing partially to feed the fish. They tasted decent, being preseasoned. Tilapia is a bland fish, takes on flavor easily. Usually you can taste the trout chow, chicken feed or pigshit they get fed, depending on where you get it.
   Anyhow, there are multiple industries that will want the warm water AI plants make. Not just fish farms but any place that needs heat. Greenhouses, obviously, but also heavy industry.

   FWIW, the retard leftist Boston greenies who funded me added a requirement that 100% of my labor needed had to be supplied by, get this, homeless black single mothers. Yeah, they got them from a Roxbury (Boston’s ‘hood) shelter. Doomed the whole thing. Every time I had to take a day off, they destroyed something. My father had a heart attack (#6 or so) and I missed 3 days, they shut down the oxygen concentrators and filter pump, killed 3 tons of fish, and so they just stopped going in the building. The smell was… brutal. I walked, and never took a penny from leftists again. They’re retarded.

         (Sorry this is long but I’ve wanted to say this to BCE for awhile).

         Our society says that “environment is everything” but ignore the nature (ie dna) side of things which I have found is MORE important.
         With my 3, there were 7 total kids all adopted out to very fine homes and people.
         Fast forward 20 years and 1 kid (my youngest) is doing great and the others are in jail, welfare rats or a few (like my middle kid) are messed up and are basically failure to launch and didn’t amount to much.
         The thing is almost all of these kids had different fathers, same mother. The fathers were all jail bird POSs. The mother is a crazy whore.
         My youngest daughter’s father was from an excellent family and he got mixed up in drugs. I’m convinced she threw back on her father’s family’s genes hence is doing great (she’s married and a nurse).

         My point is that DNA matters a LOT in a kid. Now regarding DC’s 3 kids, maybe some will throw back to DC’s Dad’s family who sound good but they also have a full dose of DC’s genes and their bio fathers most of whom sound like losers.

         Love the kids and be good to them BCE but as they get late teens/adults you MUST set boundaries because if they have the bad genes they WILL try to take advantage of you and use you (happened to me with 2 of my 3 kids). Also realize that you can try to teach them (I surely did) but for my troubled 2 it went in one ear and out the other and they did exactly what they wanted. When consequences hit them they’ll boohoo to you and want you to fix it…. DON’T it’s only enabling them.

         I hope they turn out to be wonderful people, I truly do but BCE keep some strict boundaries to protect yourself as they get into their teen years.

    In one of my jobs (I worked for a provider of big computers, think the computers for an entire company) I had to talk to Indians twice. The first one spoke english and I didnt understand one word. The second spoke Oxford english, precise, clear, but my supervisor made me repeat everything the indian said to my supervisor (I had headphones on and the supervisor could not hear him) before I was allowed to do it.
    He later told me, they would try to make me download something and this would crash the entire computersystem and then they would take over (the indians were designated as emergency contact and were paid when we couldnt do our job).

    They are bringing a lot of old, shuttered nukes back online, including 3 Mile Island. Also, being data centers, a lot of them hedge their power prices by agreeing to be a Load Resource. They get a mailbox check to be on standby as the first ones switched off (really cut back to min) when the grid gets overtaxed. They sell X megawatts as a resource to the grid, and when the grid is dropping voltage or frequency the grid controllers can turn off the pledged circuits to shed load.

18. I work ancillary to these data centers. I believe they are going to throttle everyones power via smart meters to keep the power flowing to these data centers. These are being built for the digital id /CBDC and the block chain accounting associated with this. The cooling water is closed loop run through chillers on site. Banks of diesel generators for back up, millions of batteries for UPS. Each data centers campus is 150-500 MW.
    The block chain and digital id stuff must be online at all times. They will and ARE going to starve you out of power to continue powering these beasts. I have walked the buildings. Each the size of a football stadium with multiple data halls.

    1. Meh, even with that, there wont be enough power to run what they are claiming they want to build out. Probably 90% of what is being “planned” is bullshit, and will never come to fruition. Consider too that the cost per megawatt to build out new generating capacity (to say nothing of the grid improvements required to facilitate distribution) is so high, and has so many regularly hurdles that it will not only be too costly to pencil out, but would take 10 plus years to get in place if they busted their asses on approving new builds, and started construction next week.

       There is virtually no business case that can be made for most of the AI shit being pushed. In other words, no net profit to be made, no matter how they scale it. It’s sunk cost and perpetual losses all the way down for all but a small percentage of what it can actually be useful for. AI is the ultimate (for now) bubble. Everyone has to be seen to be on board, because the big money only flows to those who claim they have an AI project in the pipeline. Gotta be in the club, or you are branded a loser.

       This will be like web 1.0 and 2.0 on steroids, and when the smoke clears and the dust settles post-hysteria, the field will be strewn with the carcasses of defunct tech startup companies, worthless stock certificates, destroyed fortunes, and scores of what would otherwise would have remained viable corporations bankrupted by going all in on this scam. If they lose grid power, there is no generator setup made (even many large units synced in tandem operation) that can supply but a fraction of the power these places need. And we are already staring in the face of crumbling infrastructure, so don’t tell me grid reliability is going to stay stable as it is now, much less improve, into the future. Besides, sabotage of transmission lines will become a thing at some point. Then they’ll really be fucked.

    1. Geothermal is about the least impactful on the environment energy generation method there is, aside from tidal turbines. My Dad was a pioneer in the field, but when Reagan pulled the plug on it, he was out of work overnight. If the Japanese had not headhunted him back then, it could have been financially catastrophic for him. Not like when Trump allegedly pulled the plug on wind turbines, yet I see new ones going down the highway all day long and they are still building them by the thousands, destroying the landscape all around the Western states.

32. Sir, they are building them.
    Example: To the north of the intersection of US HWY 169 and I-435 (north of Kansas City MO just south of Smithville, MO), not one, but two data centers are being built. On the west side of US 169 is Meta’s DC and on the East side is Google’s. If you google up the search term “data center kansas city” it will bring up results for the Google DC. Add the term Meta to the search term and you get info on their’s. We are watching it because we don’t want them to suck Smithville lake dry (its a few miles north of both sites. By the way, the Missouri and the Kansas rivers are too far away to supply water.

33. Yah, about those data centers – there are 3 being (maybe) built within a 50 mile circle around my AO. Amazon and Microsoft are nearby and trying to buy thousands of acres of land for same between them. Farmers and locals are about 50 percent against, 50% for, nothing like some good political brawls, eh?

    See the two overlapping red dots on the SE side of the tip of Lake Michigan on the map? Yeah, my house is exactly mid way between them and sits about 1000 yards from the lake.

    One of the plants (Cook Nuclear) is in full operation and the other was decommissioned then re-commissioned under new ownership (Holtec – formerly Palisades), amazingly that new ownership just got a great big pile of tax money to get into the small modular reactor business and they are about to re-start the old de-commissioned units as that same government just re-approved their license to operate.

    There is a lot of $$$$ being tossed about in this corner with little to really show for it so far. I do have a radiation detector and a supply of potassium iodide of course, not that it will do much if there is a major incident north or south. Trust your government and major corporations (about as far as you can spit).

37. Just for the record, there’s a little thing called the Great Lakes Compact that absolutely forbids the diversion of our water to other states. No, you may not have our water. You want water, distill your own piss or desalt the ocean.

As the Belgian PM has pointed out, this would be a violation of longstanding diplomatic and international banking standards that have generally been considered inviolable. But somehow, “this situation is different”, so we get to break the rules.

       My advice is that you, and anyone else living in the vicinity of the Great Lakes, be fully prepared to commit mass murder against politicians who approve violating the compact, and work crews who show up and start building pump stations and pipelines, because that’s the only way you’ll retain control of your resources. These arrogant motherfuckers will steal it away in a heartbeat unless you find a way to stop them. And killing them will be the only way, once they’ve made a decision to fuck you. They can outlast and outspend you in litigation when the stakes are this high, so don’t waste your time with that bullshit.

I cannot recall which site I caught this at this morning, but allegedly some .gov is/has earmarked $100m to upgrade coal plants-make them cleaner burning etc. That would be handy to keep the data centers lit. Not sure how that helps John Q. Citizen that hasnt sold their soul to Google and Amazon. Maybe we’ll find out when the DOJ arrests some backstabbing treasonous D’s.

40. Supposedly the deal is for the data centers to build their own power plants or refurb decommissioned nukes. In return they get out of being regulated by individual states. I guess Gen Z better get educated on server and cooling system maintenance if they want a decent paying job.
