Travellin’ Man and Getting Prepped to Roll

Greetings and Salutations!
On the road again….

Ahhhhhhhhhh…
Willie my man man!
Grew up listening to him.

So I did my laundry after work, prepped the bags, got my HARD print maps as well as my nav-board and compass, as things are a mite ‘squirrelly’ out there… I don’t have anything specific, but the ‘hive mind’ out there is pointing to a bunch of potential weirdness… So in light of this, as soon as I made the decision to go, (last weekend TBH… It was one of those split second choices) but hey!

Being Bipolar is a BIG help when it comes to impulsive purchases and things like this trip amiright? That and last Sunday, the Palmetto State Daily Deal was just tooooooooooo good to be true:

With a $25 coupon, and using Sezzle, I paid $72 down, and three more payments of $72. Including the S&H? Like $288 in total, with Sezzles ‘nut’ being an additional $20? I think?

I had to do it.
ZERO Sales Tax Until the 31st.
Now, granted, no BCG BUT
I have like 4 on hand as spares along with all the fiddly-bits as you well know. Add on that right now they ALSO have a MilSpec BCG going for $69.99???

As stated:

Bolt is made of Mil-spec Carpenter 158 steel, Shot peened, bolt is marked“MP”, but is individually high-pressure tested and Magnetic Particle Inspected. Gas key is machined out of bar stock, chrome lined phosphate coated, and secured with grade 8 fasteners and staked per mil-spec. Bolt carrier is phosphated outside and chrome-lined inside.

These bcg’s were purchased as a contract overrun for an overseas Eastern European contract.

Huh
“Eastern European contract” Sounds like they were destined for The Krain BUT considering how poorly things are going right now, they may have run out of DotMil Daniel Defense DDM-4s to refurb and repair. They’ve been from the REAL reports I’ve seen, getting their collective heads handed to them recently.

The Rasputitsa is when Ivan really gets rolling. Per the Wiki the Rasputitsa is…

…literally “season of bad roads”[1]) is the mud season that occurs in various rural areas of Eastern Europe,[2] when the rapid snowmelt or thawing of frozen ground combined with wet weather in spring, or heavy rains in autumn[1][3] lead to muddy conditions that make travel on unpaved roads problematic and even treacherous.[1][3]

THIS is why Ivan’s tanks have traditionally had tracks that are WAAAAY wider than US Tracked vehicles…. it helps to keep them from bogging down.

They’ve taken a LOT of territory as of late.
Upwards of 10-15km a day.
Which when dealing with the VAST distances, the Krainians are out of manpower per their own Generals. They can’t hold the line, and Russia has been doing the ‘encircle/cut off/annihilate’ thing, forming up, and pushing AROUND from two directions, usually stubborn defensive hard points, cutting them off, and then blasting the fuck out of them with 1000kg Flying Bombs until they either surrender, or everyone in the encirclement is fucking dead.

Anyways…
I picked up the new M-4 today, and then did my usual thing:

I switched out the rear stock for the one with a rubber butt-pad. Added the oversized mag release, and a BAD Lever (I keep those ‘in stock’ here at the Casa as well) and then I then zeroed the Trijicon with the bore-laser to 50m. (The length of the house which is good enough for DotGov work IMO) and then gave it some war-paint.

I figure that better to have a ‘disposable’ with me on the trip rather than one of my ‘custom builds’ with the specialized Ni-Boron BCGs and the 2lb triggers, never mind the custom buffer(s). Better a $300 ‘poors’ than one of my better builds.
So for sure I’ll be out of pocket tomorrow.

I’ll update as I go as I will have my portable tablet to keep up with ‘shit in general’ ‘cos as I said, shit feels squirrelly… We’ll have to see.

So More Later

      1. LMAO at the choice of clip. I love that damn movie. It had to have been a moral imperative to choose that one. Well done. 🤘

        1. Indeed. And if anyone knows where Kent is at these days, tell him to stop playing with himself.

  1. Isn’t Florida-Mississippi-Alabama-Louisiana mostly green and black like a jungle fully of niggers?
Do you like the M4 handguards? I like the skinny CAR ones way more.

      1. I roll with the regular thikkness M-LOK on one of my ‘good’ mid-length Gas System M-4s… Also it allows me to detach the ‘flare launcher’ and do the ‘under the barrel 37mm’ mount

    1. GIANT Dickbeaters here bro, so nope… Gimme the M-4 ‘Fatties’ Better control IMO (leastways for me)

    2. Interesting summation of my home land. I can respect your observations…even laugh at them a bit. But I suspect you’re a damn yankee. And that’s cool too. But maybe that’s the point…good natured ball busting. I’ll shut up now. Carry on with the shenannigans. 😆

Note to self, don’t drunk reply to shit on the interwebz. 🤔

        1. Like I said…my bad. A relative newbie here…just figuring shit out. Sometimes the mouth outruns the brain.

As for Montana, my redneck blood is a bit thin for that climate, but I’m still curious about living there.

          1. Well a lot of your redneck Brothers moved this way after the war so I’m guessing you would get used to it and your blood would thicken up…Lots of confederate flags around these parts…

  2. With a pending major chimpout over EBT shutdowns life could get interesting.
Or, if you believe that “prophet” Brandon somethingorother, the bottom falls out of the economy before Christmas. Or the aliens are invading via 3I-Atlas. Lots of other choices such as nuclear warfare, war in the Carribean, war with Iran, terrorists unleashed across the US. Or maybe all of it together with some civil war thrown in to make it more interesting.

    1. It will be very surprising if our overlords don’t come to an agreement soon. Both sides can’t allow their pet negroes to go under. Just think of the optics when Bonekwikwi be on the TV wit her ten star in’ keeds n sheeeyt.
They also know that unleashing these hominid bioweapons will cause Dresden level destruction…

  3. $400 build and a $1700 Trijicon?
I know, it was FREE, right? Uncle Sam won’t miss it.

    1. I seem to remember that Uncle Sugar left a hell of a lot more than that in trashcanistan when they up and boogied out.

  4. Hey. It’s been noted that you should spend as much on the glass as you do on the rifle and that’s good.

Glass that’s 5 times the price of the rifle is 5 fold gooderer. Or thereabouts.

That’s higher maff and I still have my socks on so I can’t count that high

    1. The logic of a $300 throw down piece is sound.
Adding an $1100 optic changes that logic 😆

          1. I don’t dispute that Berg. It’s just what I was trained with and am used to. I put peeps on every long gun. AK’s, mosins ect ect. We didn’t have optics back in my day.

        1. My favorite AR is an A2 clone, and that’s only because I don’t have an A1 built, yet. I find the iron peeps easier to use – no fiddling around.

          1. The A1 is much nicer than the A2. While the A2 sights are what I learned to shoot on at OSUT, the A1 is pure simplicity. And the upper itself is surprisingly light.
Build the A1 XM177E2 clone just for funsies, and it became my favorite woods and field gun very, very quickly.

      1. Legit question,
I wonder how long these optics would have lasted in the monsoons of VN, we could barely keep a PRC-25 running with all the water and corrosion, every single day (Okinawa/P.I. 1973). During a pouring rain, I’d rather run peeps than a flooded scope.
There will come a day when this theory will be tested.
And I doubt the M-16 platform would have made it thru the battle of Iwo Jima, the coarse sand jammed every weapon they had, I’ve jammed my M-16A1 in surf ops so bad I couldn’t move the bolt front or back, had to remove the pins and pound the BC rearwards out of the receiver while galling the insides with coarse sand. This will also come up in a future test.

        1. Yeah, who knows how well a modern combat optic would have done? All the more reason to have irons there as well. Stuff fails. I have a lot of faith in my ACOGs, but the backup irons are there too.

  5. They are damn near giving stuff away. The machines have to keep running so they are churning guns out but the market is so saturated that they have to deeply discount firearms to move them. As I like to say, that could change overnight so buy what you want/need while you can and while they are cheap.

If only ammo would come down in price…

    1. I sense “panic selling” in the weapons industries because they realize the dollar ain’t gonna make it much longer, and when that shits da’ bed there ain’t no mo’ sales.
Better to move the stuff at cost or a slight loss than be stuck with full warehouses of stuff that will never be sold. It seems to be everywhere, but the arms retailers are the most motivated.
When we see sales of “everything” a retailer markets at 12%-15% price reduction, that percentage was the profit margin.

      Onward, Christian soldiers!

  6. Mom has MSNBC running on the tv 24/7. She believes everything they tell her. For the last two days they have been droning on about Trump’s ballroom. I told her that the ballroom is just a front so that they can build a stronger bunker underneath or maybe they found a bunch of surveillance devices in the walls or something like that and they had to tear the wing down.

Anyways the point being the “news” is always lying about everything all the time. If they don’t make a purposeful lie they just make up whatever fact they want off the cuff. The SNAP/EBT shut down. I told her that the media is just lying and ramping up people’s fear by telling them the food spigot turns off in November. I told her just wait and see when November rolls around nothing will have changed the food will keep coming for free. They just enjoy messing with people by getting them in a constant state of fear, just like they did with Covid.

    1. Folks would rather believe the lies they are told than believe they’ve been lied to. – Mark Twain, probably

    1. And even then, he was excellent at his craft. He just had “it”. As much as I detest Hollywood these days, I can still recognize and respect a guy who brought exceptional skill and talent to the game.

  7. Nice paint on the rifle … two thumbs up. BCGs are out there for reasonable dinero. PSA has el cheapo uppers and lowers lately. BTW I, too, prefer the traditional “fat” hand guard like yours. Much better purchase on the front of the rifle. The Magpul one is okay too. MLok is whatever.

  8. Just an FYI:
I have a couple of PSA ARs. I decided to change out the factory BCG to a name brand BCG.
Would not fit. Would go in almost into batter but needed about 3/4″ to make it home.
Me, I dunno. I tried another BCG from a Seekins AR and it would not go into battery either.
Don’t what the que paso is but it surprised me.

  9. Hey, are you willing to publicly say your email addy? If not that’s cool, but Redonkulas12@gmail.com (guy who was at Abu, has a YT, and I’ve suggested you as a guest),give him a shout. Y’all may have even crossed paths.

  10. File under ‘Always remember and never forget’ Rule #1: If someone wants to take your guns away from you, it’s because they want to do something to you that they couldn’t do if you still had them. Rule #2: There are no exceptions to rule #1. Ever.

    1. or…

you may be an unhinged wack job felon and have no business possessing dangerous weapons? IMO most murkins are not mature enough to be around firearms these days- especially the EBT type personas…
