Whelp, call it the end of the week “mind dump”… LOTS of ‘stuff and moving parts, as well as minor annoying issues… Like Friday the Boat’s alternator took a shit on I-275 on the way into work…
One minute I’m tooling along, 45 minutes ahead of schedule at 80mph, and the next?
Nada.
El Zilcho.
Truck’s dead mang.
No power, no restart, just the dreaded ‘clickclickclick’ of a started without enough juice to turn over. Thankfully I was able to coast off the highway and ended up in a random parking lot. I’m also thankful I’m prepared for such eventualities…
I have one of those emergency car jumpers… the ONLY issue I had with it, and it’s my own fault was it was only at 75% of charge as I forgot the Florida Heat reeeeally does a number on a battery holding its charge in the glove box.
Now since the battery on the Boat is like brand new I was able to jump it, and GTFO of a bad neighborhood and into a bit more of a civilized part of Downtown. Not that I was overly happy about the whole situation, and even moving into the Business District, there was still a Feral Nog circling me whilst I waited on Triple A to get there to get the Boat and myself back to the house.
I also had my Bond Derringer that I call my “John Wilkes Booth” .357 two shot that has the same rounds that DC used to ventilate her casaba… a ‘one-shot-drop’ round if you will… 158gn Hornady XTP hollow points… 10/10, highly recommend… if said Nog wanted to get jiggy w/it, I’d happily apply one of them bad boys point blank…

Even w/AAA it was $140 that I didn’t really have.
Thankfully Sapper came through in the crunch.
So the Boat is in the driveway. The alternator is $120 to replace which is well within my grasp come first payday, however: To change it out is a stone cold bitch.
Remove the throttle body ‘stuff’ (intakes and the like)
Remove the fan shroud
Remove the fan and fan clutch
Remove and replace the radiator hoses/fluid… as the hose needs to be removed, and since it’ll drain the radiator?
I’m debating on ‘eating’ the cost of this repair.
I mean $600 to get it done in an afternoon, OR
Spend a week of weekends doing each lil bit as I go, with me HOPING to fuck all that I get it right without fucking up…
As because RIGHT as this shit went sideways…
The washing machine shit the bed as well…

Seems the splunge clutch shit the bed (I think)
So we ordered a overnight full replacement kit.
Guess what I spent ALL of Saturday doing?
Washing machine tear-down, replace all parts and rebuild.
This’s getting old AF IMO.
So… once done?
Well… lets just say I was NOT happy when the NEW belt and pulley chewed themselves apart. The burned rubber stench totally sucked, and the issue was that the replacement pully did not have ‘grooves’ on it to keep the belt in place…
So, Saturday night?
Spent it lurking on Fecesbook marketplace.
Found a local top-load washer, with some rust issues, but supposedly without any other issues. $100.
Which dropped to $50 while I was looking at it.
O….K…
You know there’s going to be issues.
HOWEVER
Nothing I couldn’t overcome.
It was sold to me by a Jeet going for Izzat.

Seems that when they went to drain it, they dropped it and the hot water inlet valve water line screw in got mashed a bit. Mashed enough to leak.
So… I ended up taking my dremel, and cutting 1/8 of an inch OFF the inlet valves intake, sanding it, and after adding ANOTHER rubber gasket, the leak?
Not so much.
For $50 if it lasts even a month, it’s paid for itself.

We’ve been running it nonstop since it started running as we’d ALL behind the power curve re: Dirty Laundry.
Better than trying to buy a new one… I saw a washer at Home Depot that literally cost as much as I paid for my first car…

The Dooney is in another growth spurt as he’s eating like no tomorrow, and achy and sore. He’s doing well, but you know how it can be…
