Well, apparently I was correct in my analysis of the SAW malfunction the other day. I swapped out the buffer to an H3 (Heavy) and the Orange (also heavy) recoil spring.
To fully explain.
After watching the first vid I pushed the other day, when the rifle was acting like a single shot, I realized that the trigger kicker was being activated (as it should be) but because the BCG/Bolt group wasn’t being powered as stronkly as it should have been, the hammer was ‘riding’ the BCG in, resulting in a really light strike on the primer.
Swapping back out to the heavy set, cleaning out the Riflespeed gas regulator, and resetting everything back to ‘factory’ did the trick as you can see here:
….and as you can see, the cyclic rate with that thing SOUNDS remarkably like a M-60. It’s got that cadence if you will…
That also, for those interested was the leftover 16 rounds of M855A1 that I tried to use at the range when I had it behaving like a single shot musket, rather than performing what I call “sem-full-automatic”…

Another ‘thing of wonder’ was that on Thursday Night while I was diagnosing the issue, I went to Hoffman Tactical to check there on his blog for any tips/info regarding the Trigger Kicker and lo and behold!
They were IN STOCK!!!
Naturally I took out my one remaining credit card (at 29.99% interest LOL) and put 3x of them on it right then, and there.
So they’re already in the mail, and the next weapon I’m going to drop on in is my AR ‘Pistol’ with the 10 1/4in barrel. I had the H&R ‘brace’ on it, but since the SBR portion of the NFA went bye-bye, I threw a full size stock on it, and got an XM-177 Nam length flash hider for it, which makes it look like a slightly modernized CAR-15 or, as such, the XM177.
For those unfamiliar. the CAR-15/XM-177E1 was a ‘shorty’ variant of the M-16. Per the wiki: “The Colt XM177 is a short-barreled, compact carbine variant of the M16 platform developed in the mid-1960s. Widely considered the direct predecessor to the modern M4 carbine, it was designed to offer highly mobile 5.56mm firepower to specialized military units during the Vietnam War.”
Now, my rifle has the A2 with Picatinny rail, and detachable handle. Smol sacrifices but hey! I’ll take it. Adding the Trigger Kicker to it should be fun as well, as the vids I’ve seen of a TK running in an AR are impressive

I call it “Semi-Full-Automatic” as it isn’t, by definition a converted full auto. It just appears to be such.

Other things
We went up to the Villages today to fetch the Dooney his (future) crib out of storage. Yesterday morning when I woke up, he had already beaten us to the punch on first call, but the problem was he was sitting up in the Bassinet. Which means he’s now capable of crawling OVER the edge of said-bassinet… which would not be ideal, as it’d mean a trip to the ER and a Damaged Dooney…
So off to the ‘rents to pack up and haul the crib back here. We had to take the Boat which was, to fill it from 1/4 of a tank to ‘full’ (added 20+ gallons) was $80 to fill, at $3.89 a gallon…
Good Lord I hate OrangeZioManBad… I really fucking do. Fuck that prick…. anyways…
So, we got the crib, and the roof rack worked like a charm as expected. The next step in the next 24 hours is re-aligning the bedroom furniture to fit the crib, as well… we have to keep reminding ourselves that he IS only eight months old, despite him being almost 10 pounds heavier and 7 inches taller than the three year old kid across the street.
I swear HIS mom had a fucking stroke when we told her how old Dooney is… I was out walking him in his (the Dooney’s) stroller, and she came over to do the ‘Mom/Neighbor’ thing… she’s cool… not one of the Watchers… that being said, HER kid is average for his age… well, possibly slightly below average… not by much however…
Yeah, I have a Beast on hand.
For that matter, I fed all of his (Dooney’s) info (height/weight/head circumference/mother’s vital stats etc) into an A.I. which came back with Dooney’s approximate ‘final height/weight’ later in life (age 18 is what I asked for)…

The A.I. told me he’d possibly be around 6’8 at a minimum (probably taller) and roughly 310lbs with a 29in +/- neck. It even suggested that I look at getting him into football at an early age and the like… I’m truly not sure what route we’re going to go, but I know for a fact that football is brutal on the body over time… I’d rather spare him, and NOT have him have to deal with the aches and pains -I- have on the daily, albeit that MY damages were done from being a fucking Grunt in the Army.
Worst part is the kid would be a great addition to whatever he does… he’s just sooooo smart and good natured… scarily so.
Either way, when I start the fundraiser for the Deep Freeze and now-3/4 Cow, (“We’re going to need a Bigger Cow”) I’ll let y’all know… Suggestions for the Auction/Raffle and whatnot can be made in the comments. And yes, after he’s trained, maybe I’ll let him freelance as a legbreaker? Lord knows he’ll be able to rip someone apart barehanded limb-from-limb…

Got into a discussion with a couple of guys at the gun store last week. The debate was IF the NFA as it used to be (i.e. a few weeks ago) can EVER be brought back?
My answer was no way in Hell.

My rationale for this belief lies in that ALREADY there are SO many suppressors/SBRs/SBSs that have been bought/sold/produced in the last week there is NO WAY to account nor track them.
I mean “The AK Guy” Brandon Herrera who’s running for Congress in Texas made a video at Silencer Shop buying a suppressor on a 4473 at 1201 a.m. on the day the NFA went bye-bye.

Despite the DemoncRats and Repugnicunts, there’s no way politically to undo this particular issue… ANY sort of attempt to get these items ‘registered’ is going to have MASSIVE political blowback. Seeing that the ATF is NOT supposed to be tracking/recording the Form 4473 (the standard transfer paperwork) then by the Law they should have ZERO Clue who bought what where and when.
And do NOT even get me started on the 80% ‘thing’
‘Cos making your own firearm AT HOME, be it from scratch, from a kit or from an 80% item, theoretically said item DOES NOT FALL UNDER THE PURVIEW OF THE DotGov in and way shape nor form. At 6’8″ I’d recommend basketball instead. He could probably pretty much get a free ride and any of the lower tier colleges as a power forward. Being White, there’s almost no chance at the pros, but then the NFL is going that way too. But in basketball, there’s plenty of opportunity to play overseas and make good money.
Of course, that’s now. Who knows what the situation will be in another 17 years.

I’d consider football to be every bit as much niggerball as basketball, and the latter would be less physically damaging on his body. Martial Arts. Find a real, traditional school where the adult classes are 90-120 minutes and the teacher isn’t wearing a gold trimmed belt and actually works with the students. Forms, conditioning, and fighting. Intellectual challenges, body conditioning, great for coordination and balance, and it’s individual. No slackers on the team to drag him down and far less of the B.S. political/“cultural preference” stuff that team sports can have. Tremendous help for our son who had significant gross motor skills delays and a dose of ADHD.

What with FRTs and Trigger kickers that basically leaps over and around 922 (o) like a 2 stroke dirt bike on steroids, well, the old NFA is done for, as that genie ain’t going back in the bottle.

Don’t count on that 6’8″. The docs said I’d be over 6’7″ when I was born and I never made it past 5’9″. Martial arts sound good. Don’t bypass fencing as one of them. The big guys tend to do well with epee.

The DOJ has 60 days from judgement to appeal -> Oct 5th.
By all accounts, they won’t appeal but until then, I am not so patiently waiting to have my stuff the way I really want it. Plus any gun shop is supposed to verify your membership to CCRKBA or GOA? Most are not very likely to put a successful FFL on the chopping block subject to the machinery of our legal system.

The injunction on the NFA rules affects only hose covered by the lawsuits in question as yet. That may change with further legal action, but might wanna be careful about posting about making sir’s, etc.
With the new NFA injunction, I re-upped my GOA membership last week and joined the CCKRBA.
This morning I decided it was a good day to turn my Mk-18 / CQBR-ish pistol into an SBR.
I took off the brace, put on an M4 Mil-Spec stock, took off the Magpul AFG and put on a Magpul RVG I had laying around. Then I had to reroute and zip tie the Scout light’s remote pad wires down after putting the remote switch pad on the RVG with a few ranger bands.
All in all, I’m pretty happy with my first SBR

As to super semi festive ammo disposal, strongly suggest checking out KAK Industries DBHBCG. Dead blow hammer bolt carrier group… the answer to many problems. No need for heavy buffers/springs. Uses std carbine buffer and spring, via a sliding weight innthe tailnof the carrier. lotsa goodness on site with video. Personal experience paired with Atrius FRS. Zero light strikea, other bs.

That tall and muscular? Go HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts.) Kind of like fight club, in medieval armor using blunted metal swords and axes and stuff, with Judo and Akido thrown in.
Or SCA fighting, if you can avoid the witchy-twitchy twinks. Again, armored foot combat where you whack each other with rattan batons of various lengths.
Use some D3O padding, like the Team Wendy helmet pads for military brain buckets, in the helmet and you’re good to go to avoid concussion trauma.

Thank you for the info. Got mine put together. Had to replace both the fire control group and the hammer. Just have to get to the range, and if it doesn’t work you’ve probably told me how to fix it. I agree that the Doonie should get martial arts training. Teach him to protect himself.
Nephew topped out at 6’8″. He wasn’t much into football or bassetball, but he really enjoyed baseball and martial arts. He’s not into any of that now. He’ll probably be healthier for it in the long run.
