My Thanks, Some Lunch and Lack of Accountability

Greetings and Salutations!
MANY Thanks to all who commented and made suggestions and offers to me. I got a lot of DMs as well that I’m sorting through, so I will be responding. I’m (again) a bit overwhelmed by your thoughts kindness and even some of the criticisms.

On the ‘me being a fatass breaking the chair’ I will address that… it was a 10 year old $100 Chineseum special that was abused for the entirety of it’s life. I’m just surprised that it was the back that blew out, and not the base. It’s been thru 3 or 4 hydraulic cylinders, those of which may or may not be due to ‘fatass’ but even when I’m in great shape I still rock 300 pounds.

Something the majority of you stinking puny humans will never understand. At my lowest weight ever (at age 47) I was at 279 pounds, and TBH I looked too skinny/unhealthy. My face was all hollowed out, and it wasn’t a good look. The docs have told me that by my height (6’4) a male, a healthy BMI (18.5–24.9) corresponds to a weight range of approximately 156–204 lbs. A weight between 205–245 lbs is considered overweight (BMI 25–29.9), while 246 lbs or more is classified as obese (BMI 30+).

THAT is why I call it “The Kate Moss BMI” because it’s utterly trash. For me to be at roughly 175 pounds means I’d look like one of them typhus-infected walking skeletons from the german labor camps.

And…
Going along with that theme and trying to “keep it light” today, I broke out a foreign MRE:

I’m feeling like some Chinese for lunch today… which is meal Number 6 which translates to:

Green Bean and Beef Rice for the main, Spicy Beef for the smol snack, 2x duck eggs and some Crisp Cucumbers, with sauce, and Egg Drop soup.

Meh
I’ve see and had worse. I started with the lil beef packet:

Now I thought it was going to be beef jerky.
Instead it was literally one lil teeny mouthful of not-so-spicy beef. It wasn’t bad, but OMG thankfully it wasn’t meant (I hope) to be a meal but a snack. And since I needed to let the main heat up, I also tried the “fresh crisp cucumbers”

I will say I do dig the translation goolag app.
It seems to work pretty well.
So, the cukes?
Not so fresh, nor so crisp:

Pretty grim and slimy to be straight up.
ALSO a teeny tiny amount…
They smelled like something died too, so they got ’round filed’
So now, as I worked on this, I set up the main meal to heat up per the bag instructions:

I then added the water, and leaned it up against “rock or something” (you veterans out there will get it) and then OMG!

HOT!HOT!HOT!HOT!HOT!HOT!HOT!
WOW!
Unlike American MRE heaters, this sumbitch is HOT!
You can see the steam blasting out of the envelope!
Whilst I waited, I took out the feed-tray and accoutrements:

Which after opening, turns into a food bowl/tray and had the spoon and napkin it it:

…into which went lunch:

I thing tried to chop up the gluten-brick, and the issue spoon shattered. Hence why in thepicture it’s an MRE spoon of which I have a plethora of.
If it wasn’t so bloody hot I probably would have squished it up while it was still in the foil retort pouch. Next time I’ll use oven mitts or gloves.
And yeah, it was that hot.
Once I laid it out, I added the spicy sauce:

On a scale of 1 to 10, I’ll give this an 8.5.
The duck eggs:

Not bad.
They’re eggs being eggs. Slightly rubbery but with a smokey flavor. Probably because they’re ‘braised’? Either way, not bad at all. This’s the first time I’ve ever had a duck egg so I don’t really have anything to compare them to.

And then to the last thing:

There is also this ‘mystery cube” which I have no idea about:

It’s unlabeled like all the other ‘stuff’ but when I opened it, it’s this weird dehydrated multicolored cube:

…so on a hunch, I threw in 6oz of hot water in a bowl, and the cube.
Lo and Behold:

A for-real no shit egg drop soup with veggies!
Well I’ll be damned.
And it was good too.
I’m bumping the rating up on the Gruntscale of Field Chow to a solid “9”. The main was delicious, the spicy sauce was sort of a sweet smoky honey flavor and plenty how, without being unpleasant. In fact I wish I had saved some for the soup as that would have rounded it out for sure. The only negative was the cucumbers.

ANd the only thing now is to see how my “Western Guts” react to “Joe Chinks” field chow. So far, no negatives, so that’s a good thing!

Overall, a slightly better Rat than our American MREs. WAY better than the BritRats which should be considered, along with the Ukrainian MREs a War Crime. The Russian Rats are on par with the US, but with some better selections in that the food is COTS which stands for Commercial Off-The-Shelf stuff, i.e. the canned goods. Like a LOT of the canned meat and ‘stuff’ in a Russian MRE are what would be familiar brands in Russia itself. The French MRE is similar, using COTS stuff throughout, but using extreme Hi-End Frou Frou foods and desserts. The French RCIR (Ration De Combat Individuelle Rechauffable) is considered to be one of the best rations out there.

My only issue with some of the French Rats is that they get too WAAAAY frou-frou… Braised Duck Under Glass and Roast Wild Boar pate? Sheesh. Talk about overdoing it. The other hoity-toity ration is the Italian Rat. Dago-Rats have GREAT pasta meals, come with toothbrushes for after every meal, as well as a shot of Limoncello for a palate cleanser. The ONLY country in the world that includes a short ration of booze in their field chow!!!

Me? I like ’em all.
Let me know if you want me to do another Rat Review.
Maybe one of the Danish or Norwegian ones?

Like I said, I’m open to suggestions.

I will BTW shortly be doing the NEW US DotMil ration, and that’s called a CCAR, the Close Combat Assault Ration.

THAT one right there is a Chonky-Boi:

DOUBLE the thikkness of a ‘normal MRE and about two times the weight as well. From what I understand, it’s a trimmed down but added to meal… per the DLA (Defense Logistics Agency)

The Close Combat Assault Ration (CCAR) is a lightweight, 24-hour, 2800-calorie, ready-to-eat ration designed for high-intensity operations, offering a 39% reduction in volume compared to the FSR. It features three menus (Spaghetti with Beef, Chicken Burrito Bowl, Beef Stew) containing high-density, portable food items like energy gels, nut bars, dried fruit, beef sticks, and enriched dairy products.

So LOTS of energy bars, jerky and the like.
Guess we’ll see in the next day or two.

Otherwise
Still ZERO Arrests here stateside
ONE high profile resignation who was the now formeer top Lawyer for Goldman Sachs. She’s ALSO, interestingly enough a former White House counsel to Former President Barack Obama.
THat’s IT.
The ONLY major player to resign so far.
It’s also because she was WAY deep in the whole mix of things. 11000 emails and who know how much face-to-face time. In fact, I have a theory she was the go-between between Bath-house Barry and Epstein.

We’ll know if she winds up dead in the next few.

‘Cos so far have you noticed that ole Barry is practically invisible despite 98% of ALL evidence shows that he’s been one of the puppeteers running the ongoing Communist Overthrow of all the things? I’m pretty sure Barry and Big Mike weren’t going to the Island, leastways not in the capacity that others were, as Epstein by all accounts hated blaqs and was NOT into faggotry (that we know of).

But like I said
That’s It.

Nothing else.
EVERYONE is playing word games now.
Deflection
Weak Denial DESPITE concrete evidence to the contrary.

The Country has fallen won’t be getting up anytime soon.
Prepare for the worst.
OH!
And while I was typing away:

Amazing how that works
SOME COUNTRIES actually have, you know, accountability.
But us?

Fuck that.
Time to burn it all down.

More Later
Big Country

  1. Sometimes the Inturweb doesnt convey intent very well. I meant the fatass breaking the chair as guy2guy bustin on each other. At no time did I intend it to be malicious. Agree that weight scales are, at best, general population guidelines and each indidual has his own ideal weight at a given moment. When I was in kollege, my playing weight was 10-15# heavier than what I carried in the offseason. Many years later, I now carry about half that excess in season or not (beer league) and am ok with it. Be happy with yourself or work to get to that happy place.

Interesting on the chinkese mre. Thanks for posting.
    Generalissimo

  2. Buddy brought back several frog rats after his stint in the Legion and I can agree that they are superb!
Don’t bother reviewing Canadian rats I can attest to their disgustingness!

  3. Big guy, got down to 148lb, shot up to 157lb, bad drug rxn and back to 151lbs. I was at 178lb before this shit show started. I would probably starve to death if I had to survive on C-rats, very picky palate and food allergies to boot. I read your recipes and nope can’t do that. Just an aside but would the Norwegian rat have pickled herring?

    Spin

  4. Let’s get this out onto a tray…. Nice!

Rats have come a long ass way since I started on C’s in 1980. Can still remember getting C’s while deployed to Egypt in Nov, 1981. Didn’t see an MRE till I got to USAFE in late 82. Those first gen MRE’s were like sawdust. A little water, a couple minutes held in the Hawg’s APU exhaust with a pair of visegrips & ya had hot, wet sawdust.
