OK I Need To Know What Is Going On?

Link HERE

Ok at this point, I’m really beginning to suspect that someone, somewhere knows something. ALL these MREs floating around ‘randomly’ and the price cut going down to $31.48 a Case!?!

Tell me this isn’t a ‘back-door Civil Defense’ thing.

PLEASE.

Currently the official reason is:

“MREs are available at much lower prices than usual for several reasons. These lower prices have been holding steady for around two months now. The most common is that many surplus stores, vendors, and resellers have acquired large stockpiles from numerous GSA auctions, where thousands of full pallets of MREs have been sold. These MREs have reached or are close to reaching their 2024/2025 inspection dates and are being rotated out to make room for newer stock, even though the majority are still completely safe to eat. There are also stockpiles of MREs that were not fully distributed by FEMA/DOD during natural disasters, emergency responses, conflicts, etc.”

Despite the claims that these are ‘surplus to needs’ I have to ask. I mean HOW do we have such a surplus now???

Why not years ago like in say 2022 or 2023 or 2024 when we had a noticeable decrease in demand due to ALL the wars being over?

My problem with this is that almost ALL of these things were made in 2022. That’s almost a year after the Afghanistan pullout in August of 2021. The pullout, while being really fucked up, was a known quantity in respect to that the DotMil (meaning the GSA) knew that they’d be ramping down the need for MREs for the troops as the war was over either way. In fact the contract to supply MREs is on a modifiable year-to-year contract so as to allow the purchase order to either ‘contract’ or ‘expand’ depending on the needs of the service.

And the line of ‘stockpiles of MREs that were not fully distributed by FEMA/DOD during natural disasters, emergency responses’ rings false as we had a TON of hurricanes and natural disasters, to include fires and whatnot that these would or should have seen distribution in. I mean here in Florida as I documented, they handed out those foul-as-fuck less that “Humanitarian Rations” that are probably part of the reason the Ether-nope-ians and Paleo-stainians hate our asses so much. REAL edible MREs being handed out to US citizens who paid for them? Notsomucho.

Add on that the line about “…close to reaching their 2024/2025 inspection dates and are being rotated out to make room for newer stock…” strikes me as crap as well. Even when I was on Active Duty back in the day, the MREs when we went to the field? The ones we got were never ‘new’ but close to if even past the 5 year rotational date. Not once even in Iraq did I see ‘new’ MREs. “Oldest first was” and is the standard, so the question remains:

Just what in the Hell is going on?

I had a discussion with Sapper many weeks ago when these ‘fire sale’ prices started showing up. I questioned (jokingly at the time) if this might be a ‘backdoor Civil Defense Initiative’ of a sort. My question was pretty off-the-cuff… but now?

I mean back post World War Two, the US used to be a DotGov OF the People, BY the People and most importantly FOR the People.

Somewhere in all the bullshit this’s been forgotten in the name of Greed, Graft and Corruption. I mean see the interview with Tucker Carlson with that female former DotGov Secretary of -Something Important- blew the whistle and who talks about MASSIVE deep underground shelters and hideouts for the Elites and DotGov Members and their families for potential upcoming badness.

I mean the 48 Trillion $$$ had to go somewhere Aye?

Whether it’s true or not, the fact of the matter is that the general population of the United States, if in the event of a MASSIVE catastrophe, be it Polar Excursion, Solar Flare(s) and/or Nuclear Exchange, the GenPop is out on its ass and on its own. At least in the 1950’s they attempted to have ‘stuff’ set aside for such events.

It was called Civil Defense and is a quaint leftover from the Cold War. I actually have a small collection in the ‘BCE Museum of Mayhem’ of some items from back then. One is a can of water that was stockpiled for long-term storage in a bunker -somewhere-

It’s sitting on a Civil Defense Geiger Counter as you can see.

Which also was provided in public shelters if the Rooskies decided to bomb our ears off….

A an aside: The ‘Radioactive Material’ card leaning against the handle of the counter is a test card to see if the Geiger Counter works (it does). A Funny/Gross thing about that water… it’s still sealed and full. Like new. It was, according to the markings, canned in December of 1952.

The thing is… well… that when you shake it? It feels like a solid thing of like ‘Jello’ or something. Gross AF TBH. Like a ‘squishy-clunk’ of a solid hitting the sides of the can rather than if you were shaking what’s labeled a can of Water. “ThunkThunkThunk” as opposed to “ShookaShookaShooka!” like water would make… I mean y’all know I’m crazy and have eaten 20 year old MREs for this here place, but I’ll be damned if’n I open that particular biohazard in the making. Got me a hunch it’s a chunk of solid slime or something by now… when I show it off to visitors here at the Casa, and when they shake it, they get the same queasy look on their face that I get when doing the same…

But anyways.

There’s plenty of Civil Defense ‘souvenirs’ out there on eBay that one can find. It’s where I found the can o’water. There used to be BIG bunkers FILLED to the brim with survival supplies, all funded by Tax Dollars to assist the population of the US to weather potential Nuclear Wars and whatever.

However: Somewhere around the late 60s, the Powers That Be decided that the average American was expendable, and they sold off/closed down and shuttered all the Civil Defense networks and bunkers. The majority of the posters I have hanging on the wall of the Casa are (for the most part) collected by me from my Junior High School Cellar, which in the 50s was the Town’s primary bunker for Civil Defense.

And yeah, a lot of those are framed originals.

My ‘Social Studies’ Teacher Mr. Cooper (rest in peace Mr. C.) was a Korean War vet and we (the ‘war/gun geeks’) were his favorite kids. He had a key to the shelter, and when word came down they were going to shitcan everything and let us loot it ahead of the clean-out. I just wish I had know just how rare and valuable some of that ‘crap’ was going to become.

Nowadays?

There’s nothing in place for “CFivil Defense” except a “put your head between your knees, and kiss your ass goodbye” plan. Literally despite the outrageous amount of money us tax-slaves/serfs dump into the FedGov coffers, there ain’t FUCK-ALL for US, the Taxpayer/Common Joe in case of a MASSIVE worldwide disaster. How this doesn’t piss more people off makes me wonder just what (besides fluoride) they put in the fucking water these days… even the fucking Russians still maintain their civilian bunkers in case of ‘Shitfullness’ so to speak. In fact as of late they’ve been on a crash-rebuilding/refurbing project ALL over Russia…

Makes you wonder Aye?

Hence my questioning if this is sort of an “IQ Test” slash-backdoor Civil Defense Measure… meaning those of us smart enough to potentially recognize that shit might get a wee bit dicey in the next few months, that ‘they’ve’ provided us with some means of possibly surviving… or at least dodging starvation? Going along the lines of the Luciferian Gambit: “We Warned Them/Gave Them Fair Warning and if They Failed to Act on It, Our Hands Are Clean” sort of thing… “They” seem to like to play that card a lot IMO.

Granted this’s a real roundabout way of doing so, but in my ENTIRE Life I’ve never ever seen the prices go this fucking low.

I mean $31 a case!?!

Even in Army Surplus stores, an old-old MRE sells for $10 PER MRE. Make it make sense will you? And I do not want to hear the usual stories about supply and demand. I’ve worked logistics for the DotGov remember? Even what few frens I have who’re even remotely still in the ‘game’ are wondering what the fuck is going on? Nobody has ever seen anything remotely like this ever.

So your thoughts?
I know that Gretchen is pissed because I’m picking up ANOTHER 2 cases this payday… but my line of thought is tis better to have, than to have not.

Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
Am I nuts or………..

  1. Reality is nutz, not you.
I think you have the “(((They))) have to warn us, somehow” thing, down pat.

  2. Personally I think that we were supposed to go gung ho and jump into the Krainian mess during the last administration. When the common folk refused to demand it in spite of massive amounts of propaganda the .gov cancelled the contracts for the MREs and the distributers are dumping all of it to get it off their shelves.
Too bad you don’t get a taste any more on the link. But I will use it to pick up a few more just in case they decide to pay you.

    1. Oh thats a good link… the demonetization is from Goolag Ads here, not my Zon Associates account. Appreciate you Fren!

    2. My local Army Surplus Survivalist supply store guy said in 2022 that his stocks of mre’s and cold weather gear was bought up by Ukrainians to send to relatives in the army back home. Whatever money the Z man was getting from Uncle Joe wasn’t going to the grunts. Maybe there is an over supply cause Uncle Vasily and Cousin Boris are dead and don’t need resupply.

  3. a ghost (not a greyman) I know, was an independent trucker back a few years ago. He told me a story about someplace west of here (maybe in Indy, maybe in Alabama,, can’t recall now) where the trucks were guided down 1 1/2 miles down a tunnel, into a complex that he was able to do a complete turn around in, without knifing his rig, and it had 15 bays for unloading. He was not allowed to use GPS to get there, had one stop he had to make to meet his guide and then lights out the whole way in, following this guide for an hour before they ever went into the tunnel.
Guess what he hauled? MRE’s. Those aren’t overstock IMO, they are being replaced by the next latest and greatest MRE for the Evileet overlords for when SHTF,,, Likely in that complex located in Central US somewhere.
Grab what you can at the firesale prices, not like the shit is going to go bad and if it does, you know it when the bag starts to inflate on its own.

    1. I have seen a documentary about a salt mine somewhere in the Midwest, which is so huge it you can turn a semi around in it. One of the “clients” storing items there is the FEDGOV. Always remember, my friends, we are on our own. No one is coming to save us. Plan accordingly. Bleib ubrig.

  4. Thanks again, BCE! Just ordered four more. No, you’re not bonkers. Just doing what MEN do to provide for and protect their families. The ones I received before are far better than the ones I bought 10~15 years ago. Pretty damn close to “Real Food”, and no hint of an aftertaste!

Seriously, I was in grade-school during the 50’s, high-school during the sixties, and college in the 70’s. Went through all the bullshit in three decades. I remember the huge CD Shelters in all the big buildings “downtown”. When they were being decommissioned I was allowed to help empty them out. Since I was in the local Ham Radio club, and we were part of CD Communications, we were the ones who removed and disposed of anything “electronic” in all the shelters in our AO. Some stuff went to auction, some stuff was scrapped, some went to hospitals, some went back to Uncle Sam, and some (yeah…) wound up as “souvenirs”. I’ve still got my Geiger counter(s), and boxes of spares for them.

  5. BCE,
Glad you’re getting a little from the Zon link. Ordered two more cases. Might come in handy because we still have a ways to go before this fourth turning is over.

    Buy more ammo.

  6. Prior to skipping out, Ruling Elites tend to always loot the treasury.
    This bunch of narcissists?
I think they recognize the frailty of fUSA fiat currency and the uselessness of precious metals, so they are looting F.E.M.A. warehouses for the grub.
    .
    Calories carry value.

  7. I could be totally wrong about this, but years ago I was in the disaster business for the Army (homeland defense and support to civil authority). One of my areas of interest was the New Madrid Seismic Zone…it is a major earthquake threat that makes California’s “The big one” look puny. I attended a NMSZ briefing by a FEMA guy and he was scared. Anyway, some years ago I saw an RFP from FEMA for 100 million MRE meals. I never bothered to follow up to see if the contract was ever filled. When you understand the potential impact of the NMSZ, 100 million meals is either about right…or not enough. So, maybe there is some huge NMSZ MRE stockpile and they are rotating out the close to expired stocks. It’s just a guess, though.

  8. yeah. I had 3 foot lockers full of “stuff” leftover from my army days until my damn kid found them.
yeah. they where up in the attic and unlocked so. I guess it my fault ?
anyway, never was a “fan” of MRE’s myself. most of what I tasted back in the late 1980’s made a
person want to puke. C-rats on the other hand where great. even the older LURP rations where okay
for the most part. so, you saying that these “new” MREs are better than the ones back in 1980’s ?
don’t plan on going anywhere anymore. I already in the hills. but I do stock canned goods deep.
and have 2 good propane stoves and well as 2 wood stoves here in the house. and 2 generators and fuel.
the debit bubble scared me back in the late 1990’s with how big/deep it was , and NOW?
looking around and one can see that this bubble has to burst sometime.
always wanted to make a wood gas generator to run a generator on, looks like I should get one done here soon as things/times are getting really stupid.
as my Dad told me many years ago, it was wide spread use of electrical power that got us from horse and buggy to the moon. electrical power is the key thing. without it, we back in the 1800’s overnight.
anyway, what do I know? BTW, I gave a lot of the things/stuff to my brother and he has a little space
like yours with weird/old army stuff in it. box of 22 shorts made with copper ? yup.
2.75 rocket training round, yup. maps of weird areas, yeah, have a few of them as well.
even some old EAST German flags and stuff stolen from a May day gig/ show/whatever from back in the 1970’s anyway, it seem like a good idea at the time,,,,

  9. Thanks for the heads up. We ordered 4 cases a few weeks ago and they showed up a day earlier than promised. It’s a nice add to the stores.

  10. I’d credit Providence for the phenomenon before I’d credit fedgov. That said, God works through agency.
And so we see Joseph not only filling his brothers’ baskets, but returning their money as well.

  11. Reddit Post here:
    https://www.reddit.com/r/MRE/comments/1lch6bq/why_are_mres_so_cheap_right_now/
“Why Are MREs So Cheap Right Now? MOD MESSAGE
Based on my research, communication with vendors, and discussions with the community, here’s what I’ve gathered.
MREs are available at much lower prices than usual for several reasons. These lower prices have been holding steady for around two months now. The most common is that many surplus stores, vendors, and resellers have acquired large stockpiles from numerous GSA auctions, where thousands of full pallets of MREs have been sold. These MREs have reached or are close to reaching their 2024/2025 inspection dates and are being rotated out to make room for newer stock, even though the majority are still completely safe to eat.”
To quote part of one comment: “I would tell everyone to take your advice and buy more now. We are very close to a black swan or SHTF event.”

  12. You are seriously presuming that dot.gov is throwing us hoi polloi a bone? You know this BCE; Always follow the shekels. If that shits on sale its because they are in the process of making a fuck ton more of it, not because the one goy working requistion and distribution decided to do the right thing (before getting shit canned).

  13. Maybe .gov is telling us something. Look at that HULU show Paradise.

In the 60s McNamara and LBJ started pushing the MAD doctrine. Mutually Assured Destruction. We got rid of our Civil Defense to pay for Civil Rights entitlements. The Soviets never bought into it and continued to build shelters up to the end of the 75 Years War in 1989.

  14. yep things are going to get interesting and Fast. I think before the weekend or next week is out we may be looking at a completely different world . Lots of Rumors around Work if you catch my drift.
I have a bunch of LRRP rations bought from mountain house of the cold weather Variety (Oregon Freeze Dry) they sold on overstock , MRE’s are even less expensive than Groceries right now LOL.
Yep your “Museum of Mayhem ” looks like my Living Room .Its kind of like GWOT collided with WW2 and the same posters as yours ! Also sorry to be long on this, Check out some of the Surplus a GI Wet weather Field Tarps, are good too , always be improving your position. Surplus military Zeltbahns , swiss , German , Austrian Etc. (100% cotton canvas) are great for expedient shelter and durable . Love the Panzerschreck in the photo.

  15. I fully agree on the value (and will definitely order a few through above) but think it makes some sense. I presume your 2022 ones are based on verified dates (seeing Amazon 02/21 manufacture in display image example [dates always vary]) but have a few thoughts based on 2020/1/2 manufacture dates.
Given five year cycle (and Amazon example displayed dateof 02/21) I think a lot of these were ones ordered in late 2019/2020/ early 2021 and delivered call it 6 months to a year later in the next contract. (I do not know the contract timeline but would expect at least this long). That would put them ordered/budgeted for under Trump BLM/Covid which would explain overordering. You may also have seen a 2021 final order spike based on a few little Birdies having stockpiles actually inspected since everyone suddenly was worried about it and saying “How old or our stocks S4!!!?)
The second aspect I suspect is manufacturers desperately trying to get in a last contract before requirements change. What do you think RFK (no artificial dyes) would say when he sees MRE ingredient lists? Not that they are truly bad but they can definitely still be improved/focused on as you have pointed out in previous comparisons. Pair that with Hegseth and Vance and I imagine their views on both value and desireable improvements and the new emphases on actually checking contracts for value…
If they are not desperately trying to milk this before actually being held to account (possibly with the assistance of some depots) I would be surprised. And if you tell some Staff Officers (replace them all) their E4s may not be actually encouraged to check dates as closely as they should, especially in the new Army.

  16. Local military oriented radio show saying same as BCE, something likely going down soon. Anyone here stock Postassium Iodide? If so any particular brand(s?)

    1. Potassium Iodide Tablets (5 Pack) 130mg – 700 Tablets EXP 10/2032 – Iodine Tablets – Potassium Iodine Pills- KI Pills – Potassium Iodine Tablets- by Nutri
Bought these on ‘Zon. Handed them out to the kids.

    2. I would look into acquiring Potassium Iodate, instead. When Chernobyl blew up, the Russians handed out Potassium Iodide. There were documented side effects involving young children who have the most active Thyroid glands. Potassium Iodate did not affect the little ones that way.

  17. The place of which Diogenes speaks is in Missouri. I saw a special on it many moons ago; a trucker took a camera with/on him when he delivered stuff. It was a big deal for a while cuz nobody was supposed to know. Anyway, the trucker could only get so much footage out; the special was held by some governor who was also a body builder- I think. NOBODY in the FedGov would talk about it, and then some earth shaking event happened to get it off the front page. I remember in grade school, a teacher talked about the bunkers under buildings in DC and how wrong it was to plan for the government but not for us. That must have been in the dark ages cuz look at teachers now. Personally, I like freeze dried Thrive best. I can make my own stuff with choices, although in an earthquake you do need an iron skillet and a fireplace. My mom’s standard was to whip up chili and hot dogs with a side of hot bread and a salad. Yes, very Californian!! It warmed up the neighbors and everyone got to work afterward figuring out what was still standing.

  18. BCE, sent you 2-3 emails (with no response) about the vintage .303. Went to spam ? Shoot me an email if you want to re-start the conversation about adding to your collection.

  19. For whatever it’s worth, I couldn’t help but notice beginning last year at some point there was a constant news feed (on my computer browser) about nuclear blast ranges, fall out patterns and such popping up….makes one go; hummm. We live in a very out of the way location in south central New Mexico (very old small community) with permanent water (hard to believe in the middle of the desert). We and other are fully capable of self-sufficiency (we also raise cattle) but have enough food/ammo/and essentials to last several years. 2008 was a wakeup call as to how fragile both our national and world systems are not to mention our crumbling political environment.

  20. Whats interesting is the zon wont ship those mre’s to Canada. They direct you to the zon.ca site were they are around $200 a case.

I’d love to add to my supply but not at 200.

  21. Just ordered 2 cases, and at less than 3 bucks per meal that can’t be beat.
Finally I can toss out those that are 25+ years old…

  22. I like the spear in your collection. When all the hypersonic missiles and suicide drones have been exhausted, a good spear will come in handy.

    1. Don’t know if they still carry it but believe it or not, it’s a Cold Steel product from YEARS ago. A German Boar Spear specifically with an Ash Pole/Handle. DANGEROUSLY Sharp AF and extremely well balanced. A good pilum to jam in someone’s sternum to play with the Latin a bit…

  23. The crate in your pic (from the ‘zon) has an inspection date of Feb ’21. That’s 5 years after original packing, and MREs have a 120-month max shelf life, at ideal storage condition (cool: <72°, and dry).
That means that if – IF – they were always stored under ideal conditions, they time out next Feb at 10 years old. After that, YOYO as far as edibility or even safety. IOW, they're a few months from expiring, although there's a chance they're good after that, but they're worthless to the dotMil.

If/when you start finding case lots packed in 2022 with 5-year inspection dates of 2027, meaning they're good to go until 2032, give a holler.

The ones I see at fun shows, surplus store bins, and swap meets are well past their useful shelf life, every single time. Some bastards even ink out the insp. date, because they know they're selling rancid shite, and P.T. Barnum's axiom about "a sucker born every minute" continues in full effect.

I'd rather spend my money on Mountain House, Augason, etc., which have a substantially longer shelf life, and about the same edibility, for the same price.

Unless they're brand new, most MREs are only a solution to diarrhea, by inducing massive constipation.
    YMMV

    1. I’ve got got mre’s from my time in Cal. Guard ’84-’86, that I still sample about once a year, nothing dead yet.

    2. Ordered several cases of MREs from a couple different Amazon links & received this week:
      The ones I that I purchased from this ($31.48 / 1 case) link have Insp/Test dates of 12/2024 :
      https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08N1NDDRS?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title
      The ones I that I purchased from this ($72.93 / 2 case) link have Insp/Test dates of 06/2025 :
      https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DTGH18GW?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1
So a spending little more money gets you 6 months later Insp/Test date MREs
I’m guessing they (D.O.D.) were just rotating MRE stocks & the “cheap” prices (from the sellers) are to get people (like me) to buy them who can’t resist the $2.62 / $3.04 per MRE “deal”.
People might complain about this or that but for “emergency” ready to eat with minimal prep food when the alternative is for you & yours to go hungry (or to try to catch & clean & cook the neighborhood squirrels, cats, etc.) the MREs will do just fine.

    3. I’ve eaten MREs that were AT the ten year marker that’d been stored in a 20 foot connex in the summer heat of Baghdad (AKA ‘Hotter than Satan’s Anus’) and NEVER ad an issue outside of three little things: One was the tabasco went bad. Two was the cheese separated into oil and ‘funk’ and three, the peanut butter did the same-same, separated into oil and THICC pnutty funk that made pretty good emergency adhesive. The main meals? -I- never had an issue, but then again, me grunt, have grunt-gut. Armor plated interior. It’s this froo-froo civvie food that fucks me up in my old age…

  24. It’s not outside the realm of possibility that *maybe*, rather than “they” (whoever “they” happen to be) providing the prepper/civil defense types with a means for survival for ‘reasons’, some enterprising and studious individuals in the industry have recognized that this niche crowd is growing (perhaps not coincidentally with distrust and hatred in government and elected officials of all stripes) and have simply decided to mass produce their product in anticipation of high demand, while simultaneously liquidating their surplus.

Sometimes a duck is just a duck.

The idea that they’d be making MREs for the ‘elites’? I doubt it. Most grunts I served with didn’t even care for the shit (I sure didn’t when I was a grunt in the Canadian dot mil). I don’t see folks like Klaus Schwab, Mark Zuckerberg, or Bill Gates eating ‘beefaroni’ or ‘ham omelette’ out of a foil bag – especially for an extended period. I don’t see people like them altering their standards of living too drastically, even if push comes to shove.

    1. I could see them having a bunch stored for the hired guns they have protecting their underground bunkers though.
I agree that no one in the upper echelons are eating these. They are getting their stuff from Freeze Dry Wholesalers and places like that.

      1. I dunno man. It’s my understanding these elite types generally hire Tier 1 top shelf talent to watch their hides. I’ve also been told that such talent is not cheap and the contracts they sign are quite lucrative.

If things ever get *that* bad that these elites would have to hunker down in a fallout shelter or something like that, I’m thinking money’d probably be worthless. I can’t imagine with what they’d have to bargain, if anything, just to keep the kinds of sociopathic pipe hitters they’d have hired from killing them and keeping whatever loot and goodies there are for themselves, let alone keep whatever’s left of the masses that happen to survive from doing likewise.

  25. BCE said “Going along the lines of the Luciferian Gambit: “We Warned Them/Gave Them Fair Warning and if They Failed to Act on It, Our Hands Are Clean” sort of thing… “They” seem to like to play that card a lot IMO.”

Ding Ding Ding…. THIS is part of their code and besides being Luciferians they are also Social Darwinists.
They believe that if they obscurely warn you what they are going to do (usually by a TV show or movie) and you are smart enough to heed the warning and prepare then you deserve to live.

In the case of the MREs it may be a little of that but I think these MREs were intended for the Ukrainian Army and since most of them are dead now, many extra MREs.

Regarding WHAT is coming, I dunno like the rest of you but Art Sido has a good discussion on his site about “If we get into it with Iran, ARE there sleeper cells here and what would they do” ?
They would 100% go after the power grid as well as soft targets.. would be a nightmare for us and easy and cheap for Iran to do.

  26. Thanks for the word on the MREs. Will add a couple more cases to stocks. Regards to ‘old’ rations, in Germany in ’65 and Vietnam in ’66 – ’67 we were getting ‘C bennies’ that had been packed prior to Korea. I mean like Lucky Strikes in OD colored 5 ciggies a pack. Anyway, many thought provoking comment today. What did they say back in the day? Stay alert, stay alive.

    1. BERG! Fer gawd sakes!
I mean seriously. Do you hand out chocolate covered rocks to the kids on Halloween?

  27. I enlisted 07/72, our MCI’s were brand new, never remember seeing or eating Ham and Limas (a VN era meal). The war in VN was still going on, all the marine grunt units were already pulled out and the army was wrapping up it’s ground operations, but a lot of food was still going there. Joined the reserves in 1980, we ate MCI’s for about a year and the new MRE’s came out, absolutely disgusted we were. Wishing we had more MCI’s.
About the current MRE’s, why are they labeled in French too? Haiti or African colonies? Joint US/Canadian meals? Never seen a US ration with foreign labels before, rather interesting for the reason behind it.
Either way, I’m stocking up on a few more cases, I keep them in my 4×4’s for when I’m out in the mtn’s, which is frequently. Prices are under $3/meal which is super cheap, the menu sucks compared to the canned meats we used to have, seems to be a lot more gay ethnic meals in there now.

    1. DeadDad’s NamBros called ’em “Ham and Motherfuckers” and yeah, the new ethnic meals? I’ve officially had THE WORST MRE out of ANY I’ve ever had (and this includes “The Five Fingers of Death”) and that was the Black Bean Burrito Bowl. UTTERLY inedible. I even heated it up, added tabasco and the red pepper packet to no avail. Even the dogs turned their noses up at it, so yeah, there’s your sign. Before that it was the Country Captain Chicken… NASTYNASTYNASTY!!!!

  28. 4 more cases for me as well, thanks.

After subtracting your cut, Amazon’s cut and shipping costs, they are practically giving them away. Does make you wonder.
