Greetings and Salutations!
Well my thanks to everyone who bought in on the raffle, and ALSO MANY Thanks to Reader “J.B Honeydew” who sent me something exceptionally cool for the “Big Country’ Museum of Mayhem”
Namely “B-Yen”

As Dan Monroe from “Movies Music and Monsters” (one of my favorite YouTubers, check him out… He’s Gen X and covers a LOT of cool stuff) would say as it’s one of his catchphrases
“How cool is that!?!”
It’s U.S. Military Issued ‘Occupation Currency’ from Okinawa. His Granddad was a U.S. Marine who was there back in the day, and he sent me some of it to preserve it in the “Museum of Mayhem”. I’m looking for a frame now to mount it properly. I think I’ll go with a black lacquered frame in keeping with the Japanese theme. Now as far as the B-Yen? Well the Goolag AI said this:
“B yen: B yen (B円, B en) was a colloquial term used to refer to a form of military scrip used in post-war US-Occupied Okinawa from April 15, 1946, to September 1958. Officially, it was called B type military scrip (B型軍票, B-gata gunpyō). This infobox shows the latest status before this currency was rendered obsolete.”
According to the wiki, “The United States military used a separate scrip called “A type yen” while “B type yen” were only used by the local civilians. In the brief time between the 1945 battle of Okinawa and the beginning of the US occupation, the islands went from a currency-free system, relying upon barter and distributions of supplies from the authorities, to the reintroduction of currency with the B yen, the introduction of the new Japanese yen (both “new yen” and “B yen” being used concurrently for a time), and then the establishment of the B yen as the only legal currency.
Beginning in 1948, the A type yen was deprecated, and B type yen came to be used by military and civilians.”
OH SO COOL to add to the collection!
Here’s the close up(s):

Y’all come here for the guns and drama, and occasionally get a cool history lesson amiright?
Military ‘script’ isn’t new. In Vietnam, Korea, all over the place… MPC or “Military Payment Certificates” were used during the various wars the US participated in. Cribbing (again from the wiki): “MPCs evolved from Allied Military Currency initially used in Europe during World War II. This was a response to the large amounts of US Dollars circulated by American servicemen in post-World War II Europe. Because the futures of local governments were unclear, the local citizens might not trust local currencies. Because they preferred a stable currency like U.S. dollars, local civilians often accepted payment in dollars for less than the accepted conversion rates. As dollars became more favorable to hold, the local currencies became inflated, thwarting Allied plans to stabilize local economies.”
It was also theorized that MPC was used to artificially depress local currencies as a plan by the DotMil to keep the dollar strong and other monies (for whichever country we were occupying) weak, in order to allow for more cheaply construction and maintaining of military bases.
So another project to put on.
The other-other project got done tonight as well, and that was mounting a bayonet on one of my shotties. I have two semi-auto 12 gauges, one being a Black Aces Tactical, and the other one which I got about six months ago, a Panzer M4. I got in serious trouble for the Panzer as money was tight, but PSA had a sale… and they take Sezzle which is an installment plan which allowed me to get it without a significant budget impact… dammit.
Bothe are Turk made, and as I’ve often and regularly stated that the Turk, while the initial offerings they had weren’t the best, Now? OMG… Beer Prices for Champagne Quality in my experience(s). YMMV.
The breaker for me when I got the M4 was a guy on the Yewtoob who, after watching GarandAss shit allll over the Panzer M4 decided to do his own 1000 round challenge on it side by side with a Benelli M4 and it’s damned near Xerox Copy, the Turk made Panzer M4. Like a Xerox as in almost ALL aftermarket parts and even Benelli parts will fit on the Panzer, which allows a LOT of upgrades if you want.
As Gretchen would say “Well butter mah ass and call me a biscuit!” (and yeah, she does actually say deep southron stuff like that) the guy after 1000 rounds of 12ga thru each, the Panzer beat the Benelli!!!
The Benelli failed faaaaar more frequently than the Panzer.
Color me shocked.
Then I found another similar video, and when I got the “Semiauto Shotgun Sale” email from PSA, I knew I was in deep shit. Outside of Enfields, Gretchen told me about a year ago, “No more Guns!”
That’s like telling a junkie “No More Heroin!”
I AM going to ‘find my fix’ LOL
It was on super-sale so to speak… $349.99 with the wood furniture and gray coating, as opposed to the ‘tacticool’ camo and black and pistol gripped variants, which were about $50 to $100 more. Personally, on a shottie, I hate pistol grips. I much prefer classic stocks… so yeah, I got one.
And tonight?
Well… it’s an updated version of “Grandpa’s War Crime Shottie” but what the hell:

Overall, I added just a few things over the past few months… The picatinny mounted sidesaddle for 6 backup rounds, the heat shield (necessary as when I go blasting w/it, that barrel gets HOT!), and oversized bolt release which is nothing more than a metal tab that ‘hooks’ on the receiver. The real release is an itty-bitty button that I did not like. Oh, and a tritium front sight post.
And now? The Stabby-McStab-Stab Mounting kit. Originally for a Mossberg 500, I machined it to fit properly, and then the only mod I had to do that I -wasn’t- thrilled about was I had to carve a wee bit of the handle on the OKC-3 Marine K-Bar bayonet to get it to fit. The barrel loop was just a wee bit too tight.
I did get an additional 2 round extension tube, BUT if I add that, then I can’t add the bayonet. And personally I’ve found that the bayonet is very handy psychologically speaking… having ‘cold steel’ mounted on a gauge reeeeeealy seems to (as the Brits say) ‘take the piss’ out of a potential opponent.
So 7 rounds of ‘Fuck You’, and 6 as backup, with the ability now to gut a fucker like a trout. Look like a perfect weapon to me.
The reason I call it a “War Crime Shottie” is because in World War One, the Germans were horrified by the Army using the Winchester Model 1897 12 Gauge Slam Fire Shotgun:

They said it was “Inhumane” and “Evil’ and “utterly Barbaric”
(this from the fuckers who introduced Mustard and Chlorine Gas to the battlefield right?) So a “trench gun” or “trench sweeper” as they were commonly referred to by the troops for their ability to lay waste to a densely packed trench of enemy troops.
You have got to love it… And that was a pump action lacking a trigger disconnector, which allowed whomever was shooting it to hold the trigger and cycle the pump and it’d ‘slam-fire’ making it capable of INSANE amounts of fire.
I can only imagine how Herman-the-German of yesteryear would look at this semiauto puppy! So anyway….
The only news story I want to comment on is one from a few days ago from the Daily Mail:

Say fuckin’ wut Willis?
The story is here
The reason I’m commenting on it is it immediately brought to mind this Gary Larson “Far Side” Cartoon:

Life imitates art I suppose.
Go ahead and RTWT if you want…
It’s just MOAR of teh stoopid IMO.
So that’s been my night. Gretchen is on her way home and from what I can tell, she’s finally come to the stone cold realization that DC is an absolutely irredeemable waste of skin and oxygen
I’ve been telling her for years, but after two weeks of living and travelling with her, as an adult, with ZERO ability to get away from her, I had to ‘talk her off a cliff’ the other night ‘cos she was going to put two in the back of DC’s head with her .357 while she was sleeping.
I had trouble doing so mind you…
That and suppressing mad giggles if not outright laughter.
So at least I got that going for me.
So Happy Monday!
Let’s get this fucking week over with already.
More Later
Big Country

“Guns” refers to artillery and crew served mg’s, as in “this is my rifle, this is my gun….etc”. Please don’t do an Ermey on this one, break it to her gently.
With your experience werfing der flammen, have you napkin-calculated the feasibility of an underbarrel flammenwerfer attachment? Soak, dragonbreath shell to ignite, check ’em when you think they’re done with the Seitengewehr. SMLE’s have impressively long bayonets, btw…
BCE, I’m glad that Wifey finally admitted the truth to herself about DC.
Now, what’s she going to do about it ?
Is she going to admit that Gran #3 on the way is NOT her or your issue ?
That there isn’t much that you can do regarding Gran #2 unless something radically changes for DF or the Cryptkeeper kicks the bucket ?
DC, that little bitch has cost you both a fortune, Wifey a busted marriage with DC’s dad, she wrecked your truck so you are down to 1 vehicle, caused you both MASSIVE legal trouble, attacked her mother and LAUGHED when she was arrested and I’m sorry to say had 3 kids she hasn’t cared for or raised one bit and threw it either on you and Wifey, Wifey’s ex or DF but NOT her.
That little bitch literally had the cops pull Gran #2 out of your arms and then hauled ass to Tennessee setting up a legal mess.
I know I’m preaching to the choir but I hope Wifey reads this and realizes that she needs to cut ties with DC. I did it with my adopted son who is a drug addict who literally sells his ass for drugs.
I wish him well but want nothing to do with him. Honestly 90% of you guys drama is DC related.
10% the In Laws but they are old and that problem will resolve itself in the next few years.
You’re tripping balls man, wish I was with ya…
P.S., “Jimmy-Px” above stinks, if you follow.
Have an Ithaca 12ga. that will “auto trigger” “slam fire”, whatever. (just about lost a foot to it, gotta be careful) I want to turn it into a “trench gun”. Was my Dad’s, and many years older than I am.
Seeing yours may motivate me. Yours looks like the message I want to send… “Don’t phuque with me!”
Love the long bayonets, most of what you see are shorts.
While I CAN own a shooty thing, I’m forbidden to have a stabby thing on the shooty thing… Never understood it.
BCE, you have been a writing fool lately! Keep them coming!
My best to Gretchen.
Karl
Been thinking about playing around myself. Not sure how often they stock these with it being a suplus sight but…
