More Test Firing and Fun

Greetings and Salutations!
OK
Been a busy couple of days… Gretchen blew her back out (not like that you pervs!) snatching the Dooney when he tried to do a triple gainer off the bed. He’s not crawling yet, but can push and roll himself around. The issue is, is that he’s quite a heavy lil sandbag… tips in NOW at 31 pounds…

She caught him but wrenched the ever loving hell out of herself in the process. She went to Urgent Care, and the gave her a couple of shots, pain meds, lidocaine and a “bed rest for 3 days” profile which has meant that “Big Poppa Pump” aka the BCE has had the duty for the past few days.

It’s been fun TBH.

We watch a LOT of Looney Tunes, as well as, (of all things) Simon Whistler’s channel(s). He’s a Brit-dude who has MULTIPLE historical channels, and I’m not sure if it’s his voice or what, but the Dooney really seems to pay attention when those vids are on… which works for me, as I’m not sure how much is ‘getting through’ but I’d rather some history and coolness go into that lil nugget as opposed to some of the shytte that IS out there for lil kids.

For the record, Simon HAS been here and DM’d me in the past… which is really cool IMO…

Anyways…
So other things…
I went to a range today…
Best described as a “Redneck Range”
Essentially an open-air garbage pit with stalls to shoot from (in good shape) but with almost ZERO shooting restrictions. It was an exceptionally gray and shitty day here, but I needed to try out the SAW and finish the break-in. For THIS mission I had swapped out the buffer and spring to the one I was SUPPOSED to use, and went from there…

Silly me….. I did not bring the heavy spring/buffer combo I swapped out…. I left them at home dammit… and as you can see, because of it? Well, it didn’t work as expected:

So yeah, it –seemed- to fail to cycle…
Leastways on the range.

Reviewing the vid?
It was actually my swapping out the buffer and spring.
It did throw out the empty casing, BUT it didn’t recock the hammer, as the trigger assembly has the Hoffman Trigger kicker in it…

The primers on the rounds that got chambered had ‘light strikes’ on them, which from what I can tell, was caused by the BCG/Bolt group moving slower, which meant the hammer was ‘riding’ the BCG which resulted in light strikes…

We’ll see tomorrow. I’m heading back there…

The “Redneck Range” and the guy running it didn’t charge me for my time there… he felt bad that my shit didn’t work, so COOL! Saved me $15! I -did- get to use my newly legal SBR’d VZ-61 Skorpion (I re-added the stock to it) and used my husher on it… THAT I need to vid, as it was VERY QUIET and as usual, Fun AF to fire up… LOVE me that lil mean bastard…

I also need to play/range a few other rifles I have…
One is a ‘former pistol’ which has a 10 1/4 barrel, and brace, which I’ve swapped out a regular stock, and my plan is to add a XM-177 flash hider to… well… MAKE a retro XM-177 for fun and games…

I mean why the Hell not!?!
So tomorrow, I’m going to go to the RR, and throw some MOAR 5.56mm without and issue this time (leastways from what I can figure) and I’ll record what I have. That and a FRT for my UZI, b/c ALL the FRTs are going batshit these days, SBRs and Hushers are legal, and otherwise, why the Hell not???

So More Later

  1. You seem to say Redneck Range like it’s a bad thing. Hmph, maybe it is. I, myself, learned to shoot in the clay pits of a dirt company (yeah they literally sold dirt) at a very young age. There were absolutely no restrictions there. No supervision either lol. Different time, I guess. Anyway, hope you get it all dialed in.

  2. You described the range as a garbage pit and when I started the video I thought the buzzing sound was flies…big ones, lots of them. Then I got control of myself and realized it must have been a fan, lol. I am sure you will get that thing running like clockwork. Have fun!

  3. Vidya gud
But the content, we have all been there. Still beats working. Channel your inner JMB and you good!

BTW, Moar utub please! It has been a while.

  4. BCE,
For the back issues, consider spinal traction. There are some home use items out there that work to relieve the suffering. One I have used is a foldaway backboard that you velcro yourself into, then hand pump a pneumatic cylinder. It gently stretches the spine. May she get well soon.

  5. Poor G probably wishes she hurt her back having fun with you trying out positions in the Kama Sutra instead of hauling around a little chunky monkey. 😀

My poor wife has a bad back and found a good chiropractor (make sure NO cracking) and he gently realigns everything and it helps A LOT.

Man I love your new belt fed SAW and since honestly you’ve kitted it together, it needs further testing and modifications. I have no doubt with your experience and gun smithing skills, it’ll be ripping through belts of ammo in no time.

  6. The local range is ghetto and the shop owner gave me free range cards after a session with .45 and .357magnum. They thought I would sue after .40 barrel rupture in cold range, I said it is not your fault they said no charge on range.
Doonie will do a Triple Lindy if you don’t keep an eye on him.
