Greetings and Salutations!
No rest for the wicked I suppose.
Even when I’m doing a good deed. As they say, no good deed goes unpunished, especially in this fallen world I suppose. I got (not rudely) awakened initially at 0500 by Miss Daisy who apparently is an early early riser, much to my horror.

Damned man… can’t a negro get his beauty sleeps?
It was the smell of the coffee that roused me from my crypt.
Sapper as well.
We both came out looking like Death Warmed over, and had a cuppa, and then I went into “T-Day Mode” meaning that I started my brainium in figuring out ‘what needed to be made first, how long it’d take, and then what was next.’
See, when I do this sort of thing for Miss Daisy, I cook my ass off non-stop. Usually two-three BIG meals. Then I use some single serve food take-a-way containers to box up and freeze a shitload of meals as otherwise? She’s stuck eating goyslop as she’s just too old to ‘do’ a full on meal for herself. It’s just the fact that no one in her immediate fam does squat for her that burns me the fuck up…
She’s been eating shit faaaaar too long IMO.
So, I started simple. A basic meat base Bolognese Meat sauce.
I was able to start with that, and at 0700. It stewed while I got the bird to room temp, and then around 10:00 once I prepped the Turkey, I jammed IT into the oven, which it had about a 4+ hour ‘ride in the roaster’ so to speak.
At 11:30, I boiled up 2 pounds of rotini for a light lunch.
The ‘extras after we ate our ‘lite lunch’??
Into the foil containers.

15 meals into the deep freeze.
Her dearly departed son Barry had a BIG deep freeze that he had for when he went hunting, and now? It’s stuffed with ready-made meals so to speak. I wasn’t near done however…
Every hour I kept working the bird, as well as the fixin’s.

I ended up doing two HUGE trays of food, one Italian Mac n’ Cheese, the other my first X-Wife’s Italian Sausage Dressing:

BOTH trays, as you can see were magnificent.
Sapper, on the other hand, used his Martial Skills to assist.
The Army DOES teach useable skillz yannow?
Namely Peeling Taters.

He, as you can see, took the job seriously, and did a great job and the mashed came out fantastic.
Then the only thing left was the Italian green beans (noticing the trend? Yeeeeah… that’s what I get for being married to a Sicilian for 20+ years LOL) The recibee for the beans is easy… on bag of fresh green beans (pluck the ends off each bean, the most laborious part IMO), then melt 1/2 to 3/4 of a stick of salted butter in a pan on medium (5) and add two HEAPING spoonful’s of fresh diced garlic. Brown the garlic for about two minutes. Throw in the beans, and ‘stir-fry’ them. If you want them ‘limp’, turn up the heat to high, wait 30 seconds and braise them by throwing some water in to steam them. Then serve.
About that time I also threw a smol honey-baked slice ham, about a pound, pound and a half into Zee Oven. I came out as well very very well. Didn’t really have to do anything w/it… but to me Turkey day ain’t done UNLESS there’s ham available. This was already a pre-cooked jobber, all I did was heat and serve really, BUT my timing was impeccable…
As a bonus, Sapper had made a home-made from scratch cranberry sauce BEFORE we left Florida, so it’d gel nicely (which it did) and THAT came out AWESOMELY. The very very last thing was a batch of Hawaiian sweet rolls, and BAM!
We had a dinner

It was off the chain good…

Oh yeah, I made gravy too, using a base stock and adding the diced guts and drippings… I swear Miss Daisy was eating like a prisoner who’d been on starvation rations… which she sorta-kinda was… no worries tho, she’s fine… it was just she loved the home made factor…
AND
Tomorrow?
I have a Beef Stew I need to make and feed her, then freeze.
Breakfast (late morning) is going to be scrambled eggs and bacon (which she has onhand) and then Beef stew for dinner for us, with the leftovers being deep-freezed again, giving he at least a month of seriously good eating, nevermind when I get done slicing and dicing ALL the turkey carcass, and making insta-meals for her.
So, I’m done
Done Done.
More later, I’m crashing… it’s been an 18 hour cookfestivus.
My back is moidered.
I’m wasted.
But
It’s been worth it…
This’s God’s Country
And HE reminded me of it after Dinner

Big Country
You’re The Man. Well done.
That food looks AWESOME !!
That was so good of you and Sapper to have Thanksgiving with Ms. Daisy and make her those yummy frozen meals.
Yet where TF are HER kids and Grandkids ?
I know… I know… busy… too busy and then the instant she passes and her stuff and money might be up for grabs, they’ll be there like cockroaches and crying crocodile tears.
As Jesus said “by their fruit you shall know them” and they ain’t fooling anybody.
Whoa… yer a CookZilla… much good karma bro!
Happy Thanksgivin’!
You and Sapper just racked up serious bonus points in heaven for what you did for Miss Daisy. You are her kids, not the worthless buzzards who as Jimmy said, are waiting to divide up her stuff before she is decently in the ground. God bless you both. And Happy Thanksgiving.

I’ve got a doctors appointment spot in my heart for old widows. There’s a couple of widowed farmers in my area I take meals to on occasion. So good on you, Big.
Soft spot. Damned autocorrect phone commies hijacking’s the phone again.
now, you do realize she going to run out of good food to eat my Christmas right ?
so you might as well plan on doing another trip up around then. keep this up and she live another 10 years easy. BTW. sunsets like that are normal up in the hills.
they are the main reason why I moved to the hills.
Good Man.
Good on you Brother.
BCE,
You & Sapper are awesome fellows. The cooking that you do – please consider producing & selling a BCE cookbook, it looks amazing!
You’ve done good. Had no idea you could sling food like that.
Miss Daisy has a good neighbor in you. God should cut you some slack in 2026 for this.
BRAVO ZULU
You have blessed that old woman with your love for her. I pray that God will continue to bless you and Sapper.
Whoops, replied to wrong post but:
Don’t know if you’ve seen it, but check out Ballerina John Wick for some flamethrower corn.
Miss Daisy looks SO happy! I am sure it did her heart good to be shown love, consideration, and to have some company. That food looked awesome! You missed your calling as a professional chef.
Excellent trip and a wonderful story. That’s a true blessing, from both you and Sapper.
Wife and I wound up doing the same thing for her folks during their last few years. We realized they were living on Stouffers and sandwiches. We do most of our cooking on the weekends anyway, so a few extras – enough for two or three meals – wasn’t a problem. Only trouble we had was that we’d bring the stuff over, spend a while, and get the call the next day…
“ It was so good we ate the whole thing in one sitting and now we can’t move”…
Pop started out jumping out of airplanes, which he despised. They like little guys for that-he was just 5’3”, 145. BAR gunner. Got an offer for OCS and switched to artillery. Korea and Vietnam. Mom was 5’7” and maybe 110…
Missed them this year.
Have you considered selling the Florida house, and moving next door to Miss Daisy? Do you both a world of good.
Two good men stepping up and going above and beyond.
You to make it feel like the actual holidays.
All the respect in the world.
That is a wonderful idea, Sedition. Only fly in the ointment I can see is the guys’ jobs. Seems to be a wonderfully beautiful place to end up and a decent A.O.
Shooter
Sorry, Toxic’s idea. Just woke up, brain still foggy.
Shooter
Understood. I’ve been that way since turkey day.
Well done BCE and Sapper!
Damn, sounds like uou need to move up closer to her and open a restaurant or something!
Thanks for sharing your happiness : )
Excellent outcome fellers! You have gone above and beyond.
Off Topic, ignore if you like.
Some of you might remember me mentioning my best bud Devin. 3 years ago his wife’s idea of the good life was having a high paying job and going to Disney four times a year. Typical American Female.
Now? Devin bought her a thousand dollar gold and diamond bracelet. Recently, she told him to sell it so she could get more rabbit hutches and a quail pen. She quit the job, homeschools their kids, is a good cook now, mows the property. I told Devin that I highly approve of the farm wife she has become. Carries a gun too. Gay Mouse World is never mentioned. Oh, raises goats too.
There are bright spots in the Whytte world that give me a little hope for the future.
Shooter
Shooter, people are waking up to reality and how bad the economy and society is.
Her epiphany is wonderful for her family and your buddy that she came to her senses and became the woman she was always meant to be.
Next time spatchcock the bird. It gets done in half the time.
I use to deep fry the bird, damn oil costs more than the turkey. Than again it just me and the mrs these days.
Well done!
Out of the service but still serving others. And at least you are helping out someone that appreciates it. That’s the kind of thing that made America what it is supposed to be. Not nearly enough of that type of kindness toward neighbors nowadays.
There’s no doubt your skills in the kitchen are premium, as seen in the pictures provided…
Your mission to warm an elderly ladies heart through visiting, preparing her a wonderful meal, with meals in reserve, was assuredly completed with style and precision…
In doing so, you’ve warmed the heart of this reader, and garnered a new respect for you…
Regardless, what others may think, you’re top shelf in the eyes of this observer…
A rough man with a golden heart. You are appreciated by the good folks and that is what counts in life.
Off topic, mention before I forget:
For a number of years….the primary gun for the German Army was the G36.
Ten years ago, then-Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen decided to phase out the G36 assault rifle. New replacement now starting to arrive….the G95. First unit to receive the new weapon is a mechanized infantry unit in Bavaria.
Speaking of shitty processed “food,” seen this one yet?
