So Sapper’s Son got here… Not sure if I had mentioned that but he has his son (Sapper’s Gran) for his summer visitation. Sapper’s son, now codenamed Iapetus (as he’s the father of Atlas) drove here over the end of the weekend, and got in late last night/early this A.M.? Hard to say… the week sort of ‘blended together’…
Because of this, we went and got the Nukular Redhead for the long weekend. She and At are “practically siblings” per the Redhead’s own measure. They’re OMG tighter than ticks on a coon dawg’s ass. Hence my lack of a yesterday poast.
Today we went to the pool. I got sunburned. The kids (hopefully) are going to crash out and NOT do the whole ‘waking up at 3am’ and sneaking around playing Twister like they did before… FFS…
I know, I know, I’m becoming an even saltier older version of my already Curmudgeonly Gruntpa self… I did not expect find myself in this particular position. It is however worth it. The two of them are a blast.
Red also finally lost one of her LAST snaggle-toofuses that she refused to let ANY of us take out. She had a dangling baby toofus that’s been like that for a long minute. Iapetus made her a hot-dog for dinner, and while chowing down, the thing finally decided to come out.
I still expect to be doing a fundraiser at some point to assist with braces… not sure why but ALL the littles I run across these days need grill-work in the future. Hers aren’t bad per se… it’s just that whole ‘worrying about it’ thing… I thought BOTH my spawn were going to need braces, but in the end, everything came together… It’ll probably go the same for Red… Either way… Not a biggie… Big Papi Chulo’ll help out when needed… we can’t have Red run around with Jacked Up Chompers… Her getting rid of that hanger will go a loooong way in fixing that.
And also, the Drawing for the Raffle is being pushed by ONE WEEK! My reason is I sent about 8 folks the mailing address via DM, and I’ve gotten only 3 entries. In fairness to those who said they’re going to mail me entries, I need to hold off a week, as TBH I didn’t get the first one until Tuesday of this past week despite the announcement being the Week-and-a-Day BEFORE!
Either the snail-mail is that fucking slow OR someone at the fucking Post Orifice figured out which envelopes had cash and ‘liberated’ said mail. Any of y’all who mailed me something, DM me again so I can account for entries if you would, with the amount sent so I know where I stand. I want to make sure I’m not dealing with retardation… so another week should suffice. I’ll do the drawing next Friday.

grandkids are great too until they hit a certain age and tend to remind you of their parents.

As financially painful as it may be, braces on kids who need them will save them (not you, lol) a lot of dental pain and fees in the future. Hoping for the best on the natural good outcome!

I’ve heard that kids having messed-up teeth is due to eating too many soft foods at an early age. Not sure if it’s true, thought it was interesting though.
With all the 2Gs in the USPS it is a wonder that any mail gets delivered.
There is a reason orthodontists have payment plans, man is that a lucrative business.
All 3 of my kids needed braces about 15 years ago and then it was $5k per kid !
I can only imagine what it is now….. start saving up those shekels.
One of the big advantages to living close to the Mexican border is the ability to use cheap, American trained, orthodontists on the other side (who also live on the US side of the border) – at about 1/3 the cost in the US. My sister had all her kids in braces from a Mexican orthodontist. They came out great. I was fortunate, none of my kids needed them.
It’s not just USPS. My wife used to get scrips from our local CVS. White pharmacist but the rest of the “assistants” were black. For some reason the only item that would get consistently “lost” was a controlled substance. We switched to Publix. All white staff and never a problem with missing items.
Sure it’s all rigged don’t let that stop you.

Something to consider for a raffle (or for yourself) is a refurb of the Martini Henry in 450/577. I *think* theres a warehouse in Florida that has the last caches of them.
Point being I *think* you can raffle those to Canadians as they are classified as curios and antiques. Pristine specimens might have a better resale value too. The guys that want them and take them seriously tend to have deeper pockets – or so it seems today…
