Looks like the Secret Service done fucked up and screwed the pooch. Reasoning for this is someone did an approximation of the rough area the rally was held, with the Known Distances +/-:
Pulling the distance measure around, it varies between 140 to 180 yards. Some are saying the stands are up in front of the buildings to the right, the white-roofed building at the bottom, in the middle of the pic. That’s where the counter-sniper fire team was stationed at supposedly.
Reason I say this’s bullshit?
The Secret Service usually have a cordon sanitaire of out to 500 yards, depending on terrain and whatnot. No one should have been able to get on that roof without authorization, nevber mind WHY wasn’t there a team up there to begin with doing overwatch?
And a LOT of buzz about some wild haired dude and his friends who say thay saw dude with the rifle climbing onto the roof, and when they told the Fuzz, the fuzz blew them off

The second reason I believe it was intentional is thus: There was the first 3, well spaced shots. Then there was a quick flurry of several shots. I believe these were from SS or LEO taking out the shooter. If this is true, it seems like it was very quick of the SS , after the initial 3 shots, to find, localize, aim, then fire upon the shooter. Yeah, I know I could be wrong, but that is my gut feeling at this time with the information I have.

Shooter had elevation spot on, 6 inches to the right and he puts a round through Trump’s brain stem, right through the T of the eyes and nose. I don’t know if the guy blew the windage call, or Trump moved his head after the shot broke, but fate was looking after Trump.

The shooter apparently was on one of the AGR International buildings. If he was on the far one it was 225 yards on the near one about 180 yards.
Not very far, but the angle was very sharp. If he hadn’t had his head turned to the right the bullet might have taken out the back of his occiput.

You clearly don’t have a clue either. How do I know? I’m a police sniper. A person with a weapon taking a firing position (towards anyone, let alone the VIP & crowd I would be assigned to protect) is an articulable, justifiable use of lethal force. It is also explicitly stated in my use of force policy that snipers do not require permission from a higher authority to shoot under those or similar circumstances.
If any competent sniper sees the bad guy get on the roof with a gun, he’s in their crosshairs and their partner is calling it in for guys on that side of the perimeter to intercept. If the bad guy takes a firing position, he’s dead.

Law enforcement agencies from federal to podunk PD’s are fast learners. They have Cannons and Ethics policy manuals designed to instantly shield management city’s counties and states from liability.

One thing came to my mind right away: If the SS did not have “enough personnel available” then why not employ observation drones? With the technology available, one or two such drones could have covered every roof or potential advantage point in the immediate area and added another layer of protection.
