Well THAT’S Annoying as All Get The Hell Out…

Greetings and Salutations!
Tonight was supposed to be the post-pickup of the Ishapore 2A1 Barreled Receiver and the “Donor” Rifle. Unfortunately for me, I have to apparently call the fucking FLDE Gun-Buy-Permissions folks and talk to them.

I didn’t get a denial, but it’s still “in progress”
After 6 and a Half Hours.

I already knew and had planned and scheduled the timeframe, as ever since the X tried to have my ass fried in Legal Oil, my weapons purchases(s) have taken significantly longer with only ONE denial, which was reversed when I called them.

THAT was a funny call.

“Well Mister BCE, you gots some Domestics and “Other Charges” on here…” (Yes, I was dealing with a pure-dee DEI Hire who had to ‘ax’ me some questions)

BCE: “Well Ma’am, I was never convicted of said-specious charges, and I resent the implication and impugning of my character… ALL the charges were Adjudicated, and I still retain my gun rights”

DEI Hire”…………….” (I used words of more than one syllable… I think I put her brain in vapor lock)

BCE: (adding before she can say anything) “Also Ma’am, the charges stemmed from a bad divorce in 2016, and since then, I’ve purchased and been approved for multiple firearms purchases. What seems to be the issue now?”

DEI Hire: “……………..(more vapor lock) Let me put you on a brief hold”

DEI Hire: “Looking over your record, and Yes, you HAVE bought and been allowed to purchase firearms since that time, Mister BCE, you’re all set, sorry for the confusion…”

So yeah.
I positively dread calling tomorrow, as I have NO IDEA who nor what intelligence level I’m going to be dealing with. The very fact that the whole thing is such a fucking farce…. I mean I’ve bought what? 3 rifles in the past 2-3 months? It surely can’t be that can it?

I mean it’d be one thing if I was buying all modern day DotMil level stuff, but ‘beater’ C&R MilSlurp that I’m using for fun and blogg-fodder?

Tell me it ain’t so.

Guess I’ll find out in the A.M. while at work.

  1. I had a similar issue when I was the victim in a Road Rage case (attempted murder, discharged his pistolla into my truck 6″ from my face.) Because my name was attached to such charge, NO love from the fibbies when I wanted to purchase. Never outright denied me, but prolonged the agony enough, I just gave up. (three weeks.) Wasn’t a ‘must have’, just wanted.
    Now that the case is cleared up, I need to try again and see if this is still and issue and (most likely) give it hell if it is.

  6. That stuff is weird. Like when my little brother was trying to get a Texas CHL. Yeah, he had a DV conviction in Washington State – he plea bargained false charges a psycho girlfriend made when he pinned her up against the wall after she tried to stab him with a butcher knife. He did 90 days for that. Then 10 years later, he paid a lawyer a few grand to get his rights restored. Texas had no problem with that.

    What Texas was concerned about was that he’d been arrested on a felony charge when he was 18 yrs old for defending himself against a dude who was coming at him with a shotgun. The charges against him were dropped with prejudice. Then, they “lost” his paperwork with his statements about it twice. After the second time, he said screw it and died of cancer, anyway.

    Look into getting a UPIN. Theres a spot on ATF Form 4473s. It may help tou avoid this nonsense in the future. Also not sure of FL laws, but some states dont require FFLs to perform NICS checks if you have your CHL/CWP/whatever your state calls it.

  9. I wonder if there is something in the air lately? I’ve had multiple delays at the store, one from someone who always gets it and refuses to do what I told him to clear his record, another from a vet who says its a coin toss whenever he buys one, and for the first time a delay that was extended to a hold for further investigation. Never seen that before and it was for a kid using birthday money to buy a hipoint carbine.

    Other shops have reported increased delays as well.
