AWOL and “Stuff”

Greetings and Salutations!
I know, I know…. been AWOL again…
What can I say?
Truth be told, I’ve been about ‘done in’ with the current day bullshit. I figured that maybe since the (s)election was over and done with, we might finally get a break from the wall-to-wall bullshitfestivus that had been going on.

More the fool sez I apparently.

So much so, it’s been hard to find the motivation to blegg. How bad you ask? It’s almost as bad as the whole “Christmas Music/Decorations before Halloween” even gets here thing we seem to have going on every year… It was what? a two? three? year run up to that pile of shit that was the (s)election?

Tell you what, if there was ONE. THING. I would positively beg that OrangeManBad do, it’s issuing an Executive Order that Not a Single Political Ad nor any mention of an Election be allowed to be on the news, in the papers, or put out there until 90 days BEFORE the -actual- election.

I dig that it’s the main ‘feeder’ for the news cycle but Oh My Gawd is it sooooo out of control. They’re already fucking talking about potential 2028 candidates.

Have any of these fuckers have no shame?

Of course we know the answer there.
Hence my somewhat extended absence.

I sort of feel like “Hawkeye” Pierce from M.A.S.H. towards the end of the series… It’s reported that Alan Alda, the guy who played Hawkeye was experiencing some serious ‘role-burnout’ and because of this, is why they ‘wrapped’ it like they did, with Hawkeye being taken to a nuthouse.

I’ve been feeling sort of the same way.

So I’m going to be poasting mostly weapons/tactics and the occasional observation of and about ‘stuff’ in the future. I’m done with a lot of the ‘current day thing’ and the blegging I hope will reflect that.

Let me know in the comments what YOU would like to see. I have to get caught up on some projects too, like a couple of you who asked me to check up on deceased WW2 relations and their service…. no, I haven’t forgotten… just me being overwhelmed per usual.

Otherwise, the fam is the fam. Addy is doing well… and the Baby Daddy and I chat on the regular. These are good things. I’m -still- trying to get him to relocate down here, as he does do roofing, and I’ve been trying to explain that here in Florida, a guy w/his skillsets can make enough $$$ in one ‘season’ that he’d be able to be off the rest of the year. Tennessee’s construction season is so short, he only gets work for like 4-5 months maybe out of the year, then the winter hits and that’s all she wrote.

Told him he and Addy can doss up here until he gets established. Win-Win in my book either way. He gets a full time babysitter (we don’t mind) Addy gets our influence and maybe the kid can finally get himself squared away in a decent job for once.

So that’s what I got.
How about Y’all?

  1. Well, since you asked … How about writing up BCE’s Guide to Not Messing Up Your AR?

You know … How you clean it (and using what), oil or grease (ditto), what spares to bother keeping, where you can cut costs and where you shouldn’t, what brands to trust, and so on.

Article or series, short or long, paragraph exposition or bullet points … I’d appreciate whatever.

Yes all that’s on the internet, if you can manage to sort through all the orthogonal if not outright contradictory crap. At this point, I would love a single point of reference. Just the time saved by having a signal:noise ratio greater than -30dB would be fantastic.

    Anyway, just a thought.

    1. I like Treefarmer’s idea about tactics.

Your experience and k owledge are so valuable, BCE.
And as a lady, there is a lot I would like to at least read about. Although the real-life tactical jobs are much better done by men!
(I belong in a supporting role, such as in the kitchen! Ha!)

Also– prepping topics would be great too.

Your summary about the “capsicum gone bad” experience, followed by a how-to-fix, was a great rel-life experience, with ways that we need to think about the issue and/or how to fix it.

We are all burned out from Polly-ticks, for sure.

  2. Did you need any more proof that it’s all Kabuki theater?
That being said, I do hope the current spread with Axe-men/women comes through and guts the beast to minimal levels. That should put a stop to much of what you complained about. Take the glamour out of the contest and it becomes real work, not bullshit high-dollar posing.

  3. I know the feeling of political burn out and I don’t write about it on the regular.

Politics has become some insufferable, toxic, insane, and critically: utterly inescapable for so long that a lot of people are just done. It is emotionally and mentally exhausting trying to parse the bullshit 24/7/365.

  4. I know the feeling… I can’t bear to listen to a lot of my favorite podcasts because they keep doing politics politics politics. I’m burned out on this shit… election over now you assholes do what you said you’ll do.

I hope they do, I really do but the cynic in me thinks they’ll do some token shit but then it’s back to business as usual in crooked DC.

Time will tell but I agree with others, write about shit that YOU’RE interested in.
Besides the military, gun and prepping stuff how about some video games ?
Me personally my favorite is Fallout76… it was slow when it came out 6 years ago but it has gotten way better. After a tough day at work burning up monsters with my cremator is better than a shrink. πŸ™‚

    1. Jimmy, at least you found a non-destructive release from the stress of people and/at work. My inner behavioral therapist and psych nurse applauds that! No going postal with that. I haven’t worked in 18 years since I retired and I still blow tanks up in my old Tank game and take a spin with my first two Halo games I still have and run on my old 486 Dell 4500…

  5. More analysis on UKR and Middle East stuff: tactics, especially drone warfare evolution, and the other kind of stuff you are particularly good at noticing.

  6. Oh just bullshit about whatever strikes your fancy bro. We will read it irregardless. Good idea to get baby daddy to come down here to work in roofing. Besides the storm damage, insurance demands that roofs be replaced and within code every 15 years or so. Would help if he can speak Spanish. But then, he could supervise the beaners as they do the sweating.

  7. Dude, I’m in East TN, they’re still roofing now, in mid November. Saw a house down the road do a tear-off and re-roof last week. 4-5 months? He’s full of shit.

    1. I live in Central PA.

the roofing and construction repairs never stop, except maybe during snowstorms.
      by Amish contractors, at least.

  8. I feel ya boss… feels like taking a double dose of fukitol is about the only thing worth doing these days. I have to fight to keep from rolling my eyes when a patient comes in and tries to start up a conversation about whatever TV news sewer soup of the day. I would be down for you posting some specific write-ups of maintenance for weapons in general, but also some small side posts regarding specifics of particular weapons since you have the knowledge and experience. There are at least 6 gorillion articles out there on AR maintenance. I’d prefer to hear from you about specifics about: little known tips and work-arounds for some BASIC diy smithing, expanded trial and error observations with 3D printing, weaponry history (and how historical weapons can apply to modern conditions), more every.single.time dot connecting and (((noticing))), etc. Always love anything you put out that gets rated by antishemitisms and rayycisss’s.

  9. Baby Daddy could make BIG BANK down here in Florida with all the storms we get each year, not to mention some of the “simple thunderstorms” that carry damn near hurricane force wind gusts imbedded in them. A roof can wear out pretty quickly down here.
He would have to suffer the winter down here, however…both weeks of it.

    1. Besides having Gran #2 down near BCE, Wifey and Gran #1, it would be good as well for Baby Daddy to be under BCE’s wing for a bit.
No one taught that kid how to be a man and how a man should act and what he should do. I really think that is what is wrong with a lot of adult males today, they never grew up with a father who kicked his ass as a teenager when he needed it and taught him what it was to be a man thus they act like perpetual teenagers and NOT men.

I remember both my Grandfathers and my Father teaching my brother and me these lessons since we were little grasshoppers. That stuff is critical and it sounds like Baby Daddy is on the right path and BCE teaching him some life lessons would be great for him.

      1. I think you hit it right on the head, BD needs some mentoring, BCE would do a great job of that and is the BD realizing that BCE will give good advice is why they talk on the occasion. I was able to mentor some engineers during the course of my career on how to be an honest and ethical human being and how to help the world with their engineering skills. It was my paying it back by paying it forward.
Note though that if he does come down, DC may show up too. That could be very very bad! Roofing is a tough job and is for the young at knee. Hopefully he can see that underwing mentoring would be very very good for him. One can pray.

Please make an AR cook book on how to do all things a good AR should have as opposed to the Black-Op Tacti-bull low drag high speed BS that is on the Tubes. Not a video but an actual written manual. Or if you know of such a thing that is already published. AR’s are not my thing but I would like to have such a well sorted pair for sporty times.

        Be well;

        Spin

  10. The election cycle is a huge revenue source for the political consultant class … billions poured into their coffers via TV, radio, print and now internet ads. Many of them charge the candidate for their “expertise” then run all the media ads through a company they own thus raking in $$ at both ends.
The political consultants “delenda est” if that ever happens things will quiet down.

    1. It’s Reverse Robinhood… spending a few bucks to beg the little people to chip in a few bucks so that it can be raked off by the Media-Consultant-Lawyer parasite complex.

How about thoughts on the hypersonic conventional strike on the Krain ? Looks like a Mr. Putin decided to send a FAFO message to NATO today.

  11. And no political hand-wringing and finger-pointing after the election.
“Oh me, oh my. Why did we lose?”
‘Cause not enough people liked your message. End of story.

  12. Bout to Hoppes 9 El Heato and rotate mags.
I like that there WAR history and gear stuff. Uhh hmm.
Tales of pranks are always fun as well.
The ESFT (s)election is for the drooling mongoloid masses to think that they have a say in something.
We have evolved past all that.
Israel 538, Trumpstein 0, Kneepads 0 that is the final tally.
    Burn this MOFO down.

  13. Yep, all so tedious. One “outrage” after another. I’m focusing on what I want to make for Thanksgiving dinner for me and the wife. Going out and getting malled on Black Friday. Setting up and decorating our little “Charlie Brown” tree on Saturday. Going to try and enjoy the holidays. Who knows what will happen next year? BC, if you can get BD and the Gran to move down I think that would be great for you, Gretchen, and her sister. Hell, the kid would be employed full time for the next year just in your AO.

  14. Ideas for posts, you say? Well, for me, someone with zero mil experience or training, here’s a thought.
A primer, or series of articles about very, very basic tactical stuff a “neighborhood watch” might do in WROL or invasion type scenarios. Like unit movement for very small groups of regular dudes. And tactics to displace things like roadblocks, foreign enemy checkpoints, E&E maneuvers, etc.
Imagine a group of rednecks in the woods… what could they do and what would they need to know?
Yeah I know there’s 1,000 books and websites about this kind of thing, but the reason we all come here to read you is the way you speak to us and your unique and, um, direct, way of giving us the straight talk.
    Just ideas. You do you.
